Thread: Are the new indy agencies really independent?

  1. #1

Question Are the new indy agencies really independent?

So what do you think, are the new indy agencies really independent? Or is there some greedy and unscrupulous male agency owner who concocted this plan to make it appear as if they're really a group of indies.

    GG

P.S. I will not answer any PMs on this.

Really, who cares! A group of independent ladies or an agency, for customers, it's all the same, except the price for group of indies, psuedo or not, is usually higher...

    GG,

I don't know but I care to understand the incentive behind the trickery if other than jacking up the rates.

I dont know what to think...but that alot of girls have made the move to Indy status. Probably raking in the money now...but what about when winter sets in again? A rush back to the agency's?

Personally Im not too keen on booking an Indy, had a couple of no shows in the past. Dont like scrambling for a replacement...my time is limited unlike the hobbiest living in and around Montreal.

Now these 'indy agency's'...interesting concept. But why price yourself out of the competition? If your truely an Indy, your getting the whole payment (unless your still giving a cut to the driver and the "operator")...so the girl goes from $160 to $200. Doesnt make much marketing sense. They might keep getting the repeat clients, but they are cutting off the new clients who will probably call devilish, xtase or eleganza instead.

Easy, most guys prefer to think that they're dealing with indies who do not have to share the fee with their owners. Indies have control of who they see, which reassures clients that they're not seeing anyone they do not want to be with. They are less pressed for time because they are not on a tight schedule.

A setup like this makes it appear as if they're indies, allowing them to charge more. The owner still gets his cut but the ladies keep more. Bottom line, it comes down to making more money and appearing as if you're really independent when the Maestro lurks in the background.

If there's an incentive to cheat, chances are someone will cheat. Our sense of values says it shouldn't happen, reality proves otherwise. When subterfuge becomes a must, we get a sense of how in bad shape the Montreal outcall business is. The $140/hr. agency rate has been tested often enough to think that rates should stabilize at that level anytime soon. Now there's only so much of their cut agencies are ready to give up so they're passing the revenue shortfall to escorts. Escorts, in return, are not happy and they want to cut back on standard GFE services, charging extra for, say, CIM. Clients are not happy, write negative reviews. Agencies are therefore stuck with a problem than could be resolved through collusion if only every competitor would cooperate but, the spirit of competition being what it is, there's always enough dissidence to setback the oligopoly.

In that context, I'm not surprised to see agencies playing these kind of tricks.

I can only speak for purrfect playmates:
There is no male agency owner. We all retain our independance.

After all these years of being indy, I would not have it any other way.

They will forget what you said,
they will forget what you did,
but they will never forget the way you made them feel.

Or maybe they aren't getting the bookings they did when they worked at the agency...and they got used to a certain lifestyle.

Another argument is if the agency's can do all the advertising, marketing, contacting, phone's etc on 40 to 60 per call...why cant the indy do the same taking $160? Isnt most of your marketing, contacting and advertising done on the boards? Just how much does it cost to be a paid advertisor anyway? And im guessing most of this "work" is done in your own home...so its not like your renting an office like an agency.

In the end it all comes down to free market and competition. Montreal has ALOT of talent right now going for $160 to $180. Unless the comsumer is motivated enough to spend the extra cash to see an indy, its an uphill battle.

Anyone who tells me that they are indy

but working with a booking agency, or advertise on one of those style of websites, sorry - it is a no-brainer... they are not Indies. Sorry Ronnie, sorry Judy, or Wild or anyone else... but an Indy is someone who takes care of all her own stuff. Her reputation is not linked with other ladies or with a website.

Speaking of which, why are all the "Indy" agencies on such horrible websites?! It costs almost nothing to design a half-decent site! Ugh!

If these are Indy agencies, then tell me how much should they pay to be part of that association of Indys? Some charge per call, one was 60$ per call, another was 400$ a month, yet another was 120$ a month, plus 30$ per call. I am not sure about you, but that certainly sounds like an agency to me.

Now, if the thought is that you are pooling resources for cheaper advertising.... um,

a decent website costs about 150$ a year, let's push it and say 25$ a month.
Advertising, online, here and there and lot's and lot's of free places but, let's push it again and say 100$ a month.
Paper ads, we'll peg at 125$ week, so 500$ a month.

Now, of the ones that I got the amounts from, NONE have a half decent website (note that F-C has a nice website). Of the ones quoted above, only 1 advertises in the Mirror (and none anywhere else)... yes, all advertise here.... my calculation is 125$/month total... but let's say one of the groups decides to advertise more and so that pushes the TOTAL debts for this "indy" agency to 625$/month... all of them have more than 4 girls on their websites, 3 have the owners on the website offering services. - 4 girls - 625$/ month - none of the associated girls should be paying more than 150$ month. All charge considerably more than that.

    Sorry, these are all agencies

I agree with this simple point Anik is making. True indies rely on ONE person, THEMSELVES!

Anik, couldn't of said it better myself - it really isn't hard to find a program or someone to do it for you for cheap. Most of the Indy sites look VERY 1997.

But what is cheap? Well, Kiki paid $400 for her photos (4 hours professional photg in a studi, not Hiotel Chablis) and $100 for domain and hosting, and I did the site on the cuff. Were I to be charging I'd do it for like $250 or something.
You are cordially invited to toss my salad. There's an app for that!
