I'm wondering how many Drive while Drunk.

Massachusetts has a blood alcohol level that is .08% or higher for drivers over the age of 21. For those under 21, the limit is .02%.

http://www.dwi.com/blood-alcohol-content
Most States use the .08%

The BAC limit for drivers age 21 and older in most States is 0.08 percent, although some of the states, including Colorado, Mississippi, New York, and West Virginia, to name a few, allow a BAC limit of .10 percent.

http://www.drunkdrivinglawyers.com/blood-alcohol-content-definition.cfm

Blood Alcohol Content
The definition of blood alcohol content is the concentration of alcohol in one’s bloodstream, expressed as a percentage. Blood alcohol content, or BAC, is used to determine whether a person is legally intoxicated, especially under a driving while intoxicated law. In the field of traffic safety, BAC is expressed as the percentage of alcohol in deciliters of blood--for example, 0.10 percent. A 160-pound man, for instance, will have a BAC of approximately 0.04 percent 1 hour after consuming two 12-ounce beers or two other standard drinks on an empty stomach. All State Laws have specific driver BAC limits, which vary by State. According to these laws, operating a vehicle while having a BAC over the given limit is illegal.

I think the poll should read "Have you driven while legally drunk" instead. I have in the past, but no longer drive if I know I will be drinking. It's not worth the possible consequences of losing my license.

The problem I have with the drunk driving laws is that I believe there should be a sliding scale of punishment. I can't remember ever reading of an accident where the driver was found to be at .08, .10, .12, or any other low reading. They usually are found to be more than three times the legal limit of BAC. These are the ones that deserve the highest level of punishment, not someone who has had an extra glass of wine with dinner and hits .09.

In fact, there are some people on the road who are more dangerous behind the wheel normally than the average person who drives after a couple of drinks.

New Quebec laws - lower limits

FYI: Quebec law will change in the coming months. The legal limit will go from 0.08 to 0.05.

Think the poll should be deleted and re-done with a slightly different twist. Rephrase the question with a number of drinks...

Do you drive after having 2 drinks, 4 drinks, 6 drinks, 8 drinks....etc. give it a 4 hour 'outing' so we can have an idea how much is drunk in a time limit.

Then we can judge who might be 'drunk'....

MODS, if you want/can, please insert as Choice 3-7 (leaving the others) as
"Yes, after 1 Drink/Hr"
"Yes, after 2 Drinks/Hr"
"Yes, after 3 Drinks/Hr"
"Yes, after 4 Drinks/Hr"
"Yes, after 5 or More Drinks/Hr"
Not sure if we should allow more than 1 Vote

Report uncovers allegations of astronauts drunk on flights

CAPE CANAVERAL — An independent panel on astronauts' health was told that on two occasions, astronauts flew while drunk, and astronauts often drank heavily shortly before a launch, according to a report the panel released today.
The panel's findings were based on confidential interviews with astronauts and others, NASA officials said today. The panel did not corroborate the accounts heard in the interviews and does not name the astronauts accused of intoxication, according to the report.

Her Hot Dreams
Hello Robert 21,

I have to say I was pretty irresponsible when I was a younger pup. I was very lucky never to have been caught and much more so never to have harmed anyone because of my stupidity. These days I rarely ever get drunk at all even when there is an opportunity to do so safely. I would like to say I have "seen the light". But it probably has a lot to do with the fact that the fascination with getting drunking wore off a long time ago...Thank GOD! I already had a dry habit before the laws and penalties got extremely tough. I just glad I did not have to learn the hard way...one way or another.

Beer me...only at home.
