I used to always tip regardless of the service and people didn’t understand why. After receiving my first bad service, I then changed my policy when the service was below standard (no MSOG or leaving early or worst yet showing up late and leaving early or some other aspect).
It might seem silly but I later changed my policy to tip only agency girls about 10% if the service was good since indies generally get the entire amount after speaking with hobbyists.
I know that there are added costs to being an indie (advertising, transportation, etc.) but I don’t believe that they account for the sometimes over 30% that most agencies get from the hourly rate that I paid to the agency lady which is why I tipped agency girls more often than indies.
Also with indies and agency SPs, depending on whether it is the first time seeing them, I generally book 2, 3, or 4 hours and I find that generally SPs prefer longer appointments with of course the right client since it is less tiring for them and they make more money from the available time that they have to work which can be a tip in itself.
From a client’s perspective, I personally think that tips should be an exception and not a rule. If an indie expects an extra 10% or whatever amount, she can increase her rate by 10%.
I know that the tipping aspect of $20 feels nicer when it is received than increasing the hourly rate (because it is special) but I don’t like the apect of always expecting a tip (like some waiters expecting a 15% tip regardless of service or where some restaurants automatically tack on 15% tip to the bill).
This is why I will tip but only when everything is perfect (and my definition of perfect is not unattainable but doesn’t happen all the time).
Actually last time it happened was with a lady from Eleganza that I saw awhile ago but before that I don’t remember when it happened (which shows how rare it is). I repeat with 2 or 3 indies or agency girls now per month and see very few new agency girls or new indies which also might explain why tips for me are somewhat rare.
With indies, I’m a bit more critical on things such as the time that they show up (and of course the time that they leave). With agency girls, I give them some leighway on the time that they show up (and the time that they leave) since they might be late depending on traffic and their last appointment (and of course the booker which shouldn’t affect the girl’s tip). In terms of actual service when it comes to tipping, I judge both the same taking only into account that the indie gets all the money I’m giving her whereas the agency SP is only getting between part of it (depending on agency maybe 70%).
If there is chemistry between the SP and myself and the SP doesn’t mind seeing me again (I generally ask at the end of my encounters), I will generally repeat and I think that a repeat good customer is always better than a one time tip from a customer that will never be seen or heard from again especially for indies (since agency girls generally see whoever the booker scheduled them with and have reservations about refusing clients unless they are exceptionally bad/abusive since it means that they will probably lose money for the time which the client booked).
A repeat good customer is also good for the SP since there are less surprises and less uncomfortable situations for both parties over meeting someone “new”.
