I just returned to Florida from a recent trip to Montreal. I fell in love with the city, especially the bi-lingual character of the city. I recommend studying as much French as possible before coming. Language was an issue with SPs and especially with the youngest and hottest SP. I had a dictionary and struggled. The effort was appreciated and rewarded, but two hour appointments were difficult.
I stayed at the Opus. It's on Sherbrooke and Clark near Saint Laurent. People have asked on this board about SP friendly hotels. I used Devilish and Eleganza. Eleganza would have the driver call upon arrival. Because the elevator required a key, I would come down to meet the SP.
Devilish, on the other hand, had the SPs go to the front desk and ring my room. The front desk would just call my room and ask whether it was OK to send the "young lady" up. Rather than feeling uncomfortable, I felt more like a rock star.
I really recommend this hotel. It is new and modern with a glass shower that could accommodate 4 to 6 people. It is small and private with a small lobby that never had very many people sitting around.
Across the street is a gas station for small items and an ATM. It is one block from Saint Laurent. On Saint Laurent there is a liquor store and lots of bars and restaurants. I spent several evenings at a place called the Shed. There were two gorgeous bartenders there - Marianne (30 something, but dated the manager) and Cassandra (20 something with a smile that lit up the place. I spent hours talking with both of them.
For Chocolates I would recommend "Les Chocolats de Chloe at 375 rue Roy est. It's about a 15 minute walk. Finally, I recommend the subway for getting around the city. It is clean and safe and taking the subway always makes me feel a part of the city.
I hope these comments help a future traveler. I will return to the Opus in December.
