I was thinking Pitt would of been smelled out right away and shot on sight in reality if one of the loyal Vichy exchanged more than a couple of words with him?

Quite true. But after all, it's just a movie.

This reminds me of the movie "Die Hard". I read an article about it yesterday where director John McTiernan mentioned being very frustrated with actor Alan Rickman's inability to speak a credible 'American' accent in regards to the scene where he comes face-to-face with John McLane and tries to pass himself off as someone who escaped being caught by the terrorists. McTiernan said he had to go through take after take of that scene since he kept detecting a british accent in Rickman's speech and that someone like McLane wouldn't have believed him because his 'American' accent still sounded too british. What McTiernan now finds amazing is that although he now regards Rickman as an absolutely terrific character actor, he was unable to nail an American accent on his first movie.

I watched that scene again earlier today and the director is absolutely correct: Rickman's American accent was definitely not a very good one.

Quite true. But after all, it's just a movie.

I saw "Allied" today. It had a nice pace with some spurts of action. I enjoyed the story but I thought the ending would be more clever. Overall it had an old fashioned style, which was a relief from slam bam action every minute stuff so common today. Still the ending left me disappointed. I won't give more detail about that or I'll start to give it away, but an alternative would have been better.

The Purge: Election Year

Last week i watched The Purge: Anarchy and really liked it. It starred former MMA fighter Frank Grillo, who was actually pretty good in the role of a vigilante cop during The Purge. To my surprise, it wasn't the first movie he had appeared in.

So this past friday, i decided to watch The Purge: Election Year, which i had bought on blu ray recently. This one is as entertaining as the other two and the story takes place in Washington DC. It once again stars Frank Grillo. Elizabeth Mitchell also co-stars as a Senator running for the Presidency and her goal is to eliminate the 'Purge', which causes her to be a target during the purging night.

For those who enjoy these type of movies, i give it 4 out of 5 stars. I do recommend it. :thumb:

I went to see Office Christmas Party. This movie had the funniest trailer that I had ever seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_itBfEC_TI
The problem is that the 2 minute and 16 second trailer contained a compilation of 90-95% of the best scenes.
Either watch the trailer and skip the movie or go to the movie and do not watch the trailer.
I was a little disappointed. This movie is a 6.5 out of 10

Money Monster (2016)

The latest movie to spit out of my Netflix queue was Money Monster, which I enjoyed.

The movie, directed by Jodie Foster and starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts, is as much about financial industry talk shows as it is about the financial industry. The plot features Clooney as TV show host Lee Gates, who is taken hostage on live TV by a viewer, a poor schnook loser who loses his $60,000 inheritance on an investment recommended as a "home run" by Gates. Roberts plays the Director of the show, who is forced to manage the task of filming a live TV show now starring Gates as hostage rather than host. Also appearing in interesting supporting roles are Giancarlo Esposito (who legendarily played Gus Fring on Breaking Bad) as a NYPD police captain, and Dominic West (who played Jimmy McNulty on The Wire) as the suspicious CEO of the company the hostage taker invested in, which inexplicably lost $800 million overnight.

The message of the movie is that the stock market is just a gigantic Casino and the game is rigged - which all of us kind of know anyway, so it's not exactly groundbreaking but is good entertainment worth watching.

These past few days i've decided to re-visit old Christmas favorites of mine such as Die Hard and Die Hard II. I watch them at least once a year at around this time. On my list for the upcoming days will be the likes of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, Black Christmas, Home Alone, Home Alone 2, The Polar Express, It's a Wonderful Life and every remake of "Miracle on 34th Street". If i have time i may watch again the tearjerker "The Christmas Tree", which i haven't been able to find on dvd or blu ray.

Tonight, i'll be getting together with my loved ones and i'll be bringing along my Johnny Cash DVD Christmas Collection and the Best of Bing Crosby Christmas Specials.

Ho-ho-ho!!!!!!!!! :whoo:

Another couple of films I saw recently on tv, though old ones, was "Payback" with Mel Gibson, "Jack Reacher" with Tom Cruise, and the "Equalizer" with Denzel Washington all tough guy vigilante types looking to get revenge on cold blooded animals for their merciless acts of murder and terror...a theme I don't seem to ever get tired of.

10 Cloverfield Lane

I watched a very strange film last night-10 Cloverfield Lane. I liked it. It's a doomsday film starring John Goodman as a whacko conspiracy theorist who essentially kidnaps a young woman and incarcerates her in an underground bunker for her own protection against a chemical attack. It's sort of a mixture of horror and science fiction. The film had a certain creepiness to it which I enjoy. Mary Elizabeth Winsted, a veteran scream Queen, shows her SQ chops by looking totally creeped out throughout the whole movie. I always thought that what makes a Scream Queen is her ability to look and scream in a terrified manner and she really gets the job done well in those areas. I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of this genre, as it's fairly well done.

I saw it a few months ago and also liked it very much. I didn't realize until i read movie review that it's a sequel (or prequel) to 'Cloverfield', which i saw a few years ago and also liked very much.

I saw it this past summer. I was disappointed. It's an okay movie, but not much better.

Wedding Crashers

I watched it again last night. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time i saw it. It ever gets old and i was laughing out loud for most of the movie. Vince Vaughn at his best! Kudos to Owen Wilson, Christopher Walken, Bradley Cooper and Rachel McAdam. The actor who played Walken's crazy son was hillarious! A classic!!! :thumb:

John Wick 2!!

If you liked the first one, you're gonna love this new chapter! Keanu Reeves is muddaeffin' whirlwind of carnage!
There is a very basic story at the center of the film, but let's face it: this movie was made just for it's action scenes!
It is straight-up action porn!!!

Look behind you.
Seen Kong last weekend, thought it was very good, not much slow filler times and kept me interested, heard a Kong 2 will come out in the future. Recent Netflix, Mr Brooks, good. Perfect stranger, good.

Look behind you.
Checking Netflix and came across I saw the devil, South Korean movie with subtitles. Violent revenge movie, not what I was expecting but for the type of movie it was done well, not your typical B type slasher movie.

For a sci-fi movie with a not so new theme of first contact it was rather very good. Could have spared us Forest Whitaker whose play is close to *bleaaah*

Just watched this movie (its a 2016) with JASON BIGGS from American Pie. Funny but not "ultra funny". I was entertain but saw better comedies too. I couldn't help but to notice how far from reality this was, at least from the montreal "merb agencies" reality. Obviously the movie is set in the states and therefore its a different reality as here, but even there, despite them saying "based on a true story" and even going as far as to show the "real moments" and the "not so real" duringt the end credits, i think it is very different in reality. I don't think any driver for instance wash the used Dildos of the SPs :p

On the other hand i do know squirting is actually .. well you know... :tape:

And i particulary apreciated the part where the "employer", the guy who would be considered as the mac/pimp actually refer to himself as being hired by the ladies and some kind of publicist or something like that. Saying if the ladies are not happy, they will go somewhere else. Sorry i watched the movie in french and can't remember the exact word but he pretty much mentioned the concept of a "pimp" was not a thing anymore. I do know it still exist and its a reality of the less fortunate, but its not something you see "on the good side of the business" if i can say. Like among the merb agencies here. We always see "roster changes".

Overall i would say its a movie with a lot of ridiculous unbelievable shit, but with some parts of truth, and i did apreciate some of it. i think the IMDB score of 5/10 is truthfull, i would maybe push it to a 6 myself. If you like raunchy comedies, and are curious to see this take on the business, i would say give it a shot, but don't expect something super real or too close to reality.
