What is the percentage of "new material" being played... last time in 2003 it was a bit awful as he was there to "promote" his new album... Same story this time around???
It's a pretty good mix. Of course the new stuff predominates, but you do get a good helping of the chestnuts. He played 24 tunes in Ottawa, about 10 of them from the new album. Here's the playlist:

Radio Nowhere { lyrics }
The Ties That Bind { lyrics }
Lonesome Day { lyrics }
Gypsy Biker { lyrics }
Magic { lyrics }
Reason To Believe { lyrics }
Adam Raised A Cain { lyrics }
She's The One { lyrics }
Livin' In The Future { lyrics }
The Promised Land { lyrics }
Tougher Than The Rest { lyrics } Tour Premiere
Backstreets { lyrics } Tour Premiere
Darlington County { lyrics }
Devil's Arcade { lyrics }
The Rising { lyrics }
Last To Die { lyrics }
Long Walk Home { lyrics }
Badlands { lyrics }

Girls In Their Summer Clothes { lyrics }
State Trooper (with Arcade Fire) { lyrics }
Keep The Car Running (with Arcade Fire)
Born To Run { lyrics }
Dancing In The Dark { lyrics }
American Land { lyrics }

I am on the ticketmaster site and can get 2 GA floor tickets for $115/each, total with service charges is $257. I'm not really a fan of Springsteen so I'm not going to get them but they're available if you're online now!!

Comes to my home town to see Springsteen but he does not invite his good bossom buddy, not even a phone call to say hello and all this time I thought that I was his second best friend after the plumber, heck I would have even given him the same tour of the city that I gave Judy.:p

Actually, I should've called you as you're still in hock to me for $160 thanks to the recent victory of the World Champion Boston Red Sox over the Cleveland Indians. What was I thinking?

The Boss is still okay but he's not what he once was - hardly surprising since he's almost 60 and energy and passion were always a big part of what made him great. Also his audience is getting old so it's not completely surprising that he no longer guarantees a sellout concert.

You obviously haven't seen the Boss lately. He absolutely kicked butt for 2.5 hours tonight. What a show.

According to the review in today's online edition of the Gazette, there was a "Clarence Thomas" playing in the band. Gosh, I can hardly wait for the online Gazette's historical view on disgraced American judge "Clarence Clemons".

Yes folks always look to the Gazette for accurate reporting! Oh and to make matters even worse Jack Todd is back (gaah!!!) with a column that will appear every Monday. It seems good things never last!

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm sure he was good but was he as good as he was 30 years ago? I'm guessing he wasn't at that level because he doesn't have the same athleticism that he did in his twenties (hey, neither do I!) and I know that while he still does good stuff I prefer his older material.

YES!

My Little Devil Date and I got to the Show late (after 9:30)......
We had GA Tickets.
I joked with Her about how we had to get Bracelets, to go onto the Floor...the Joke being, "I wonder if the Bracelets will have Diamonds".....;)
We then proceeded to get 2 Vodka & Cranberries (YUM!).

SO cool standing on the Floor, that was the Ice, that the Habs play on.

I remember hearing:
The Rising

Jungleland

Badlands
The Crowd singing there WHOA's Out...
CHORUS
"Badlands, you gotta live it everyday
Let the broken hearts stand
As the price you've gotta pay
We'll keep pushin' till it's understood
and these badlands start treating us good"

Born To Run
"Someday girl I don't know when
we're gonna get to that place
Where we really want to go
and we'll walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us
baby we were born to run"

Dancing In The Dark
"You can't start a fire sitting 'round crying over a broken heart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
You can't start a fire worrying about your little world falling apart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Hey baby"

No knock on Bruce, but of COURSE they can! In case you haven't noticed, the fans at just about EVERY concert in Montreal come out raving about how it was the greatest they've ever seen. This goes for Bruce and everyone else all the way down to Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion and Justin Freakin' Timberlake. It's called preaching to the converted.

Hey K, in post 4 you said "I'm not really a fan of Springsteen" but now you feel offended because I didn't say that he has a personal hotline to God. Didn't they teach reading in Special Class?

I have no problem with Springsteen and I think he's a great entertainer...but because I also think he was even greater 30 years ago, you seem to think "you can't please all the people all the time". What's up with that? Maybe the cause of the problem is that you've been "shaking your head" a little too hard and a little too long?

I'm not a fan but it doesn't take away from the fact that at 60 years old he still puts on an amazing show! To say he's not as good as he was 30 years ago is just an all out asinine statement! He's 60 f'n years old now, of course he's not going to put on as good a show or have as much energy as a 30 year old. That's what's up with that JC.

The simple fact, K, is that joel is doing his best Joe.T impersonation in this thread. When was the last time he saw Bruce?

The simple fact that Bruce has grown and matured as a performer. His material only gets better and better. He turns traditional folk tunes into kick ass rock and roll, something the 30 year old Bruce could never have pulled off.

If you want to see Bruce at his very best, now is the time.

Hey K, do you at least have the ability to realize that these two sentences you wrote...consecutively yet (!)...are in total CONTRADICTION to each other?

Or...do you at least have the ability to understand that what you're saying in the second of your two quoted sentences is pretty much exactly what I was saying in the first place?

Good observation. Also the fact he comes to town every year or two. Or like last year, he went to Ottawa & many Springsteen die-hards from Mtl didn't mind travelling 2 hrs to see their idol. Another reason why his concert didn't sell out was that it's quite possible that many fans weren't impressed with his last album & knew that many of the songs from that album would be played during the concert, so they decided to save their money & stay home.

Hey Doc, in case you don't remember, here's what you said in post # 11. Oddly enough, you seem to have changed your mind by the time you wrote post # 21. Or maybe it's not that odd, since you've often pulled the same about-face in the hockey thread. By the way, sorry if you consider this accurate stating of the obvious facts to be sarcastic and negative.

Hey Rumples, sorry to disillusion you but it's not a "fact that Bruce has grown and matured as a performer". Actually, it's an opinion. You're totally entitled to your opinion and it is probably shared by many other fans...but it is not a fact...just as someone holding a different opinion could not claim that his opinion was a "fact".

And speaking of "facts", Rumples, it is ALSO not a "fact that joel is doing his best Joe T. impersonation". However, it likely IS a "fact" (i.e.: something that can be proven through actual evidence) that you tend to become haughty and insulting (as you do with Joe T.) when anyone has the audacity to disagree with your opinions.

Oh, and just to clarify things yet again for all you heroic defenders of Springsteen, I like him too...and HAVE liked him for roughly 35 years...so don't get TOO upset over the mistaken belief that I'm dissing your hero.
