Actor Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan apartment, and police said drugs may have been a factor. The Australian-born actor was 28.

Heath’s Movies included The Patriot (2000), A Knight's Tale (2001), Monster's Ball (2001), and Brokeback Mountain (2005).
There's The Dark Knight (2008) where he plays The Joker......

WHAT??

Is that for real?! If so, it's very sad...

He seemed like such a sweet guy.

Ok, I just checked : it's true.

I still can't believe this. How tragic. :(

YES! It's True.............

USA TODAY said:
Police said Ledger was naked in his bed with an unknown number of sleeping pills near the body.
Ledger had an appointment for a massage at a residence in the tony SoHo neighborhood, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said. A housekeeper who went to let him know the massage therapist had arrived found him dead at 3:26 p.m.

I just saw this on the news. I didn't realize he was so young as he's been around in major films for a number of years. His film, A Knight's Tale, is one of my favorite popcorn movies and I have been looking forward to his interpretation of the Joker in the next Batman movie. What a sad end for such a talented young actor.

I know, I was surprised too by his age. I thought he was around 33-34.

It seems he had problems with drugs for a while now and may have been battling depression.

Not so long ago, Owen Wilson almost died too in similar conditions.

This is the proof that being rich and successful doesn't garantee happiness...

An extract from an interview he gave the The New York Times two months ago :

"I stressed out a little too much,” Mr. Ledger said.

He tends to do that. He is here in London filming the latest episode of the “Batman”franchise, “The Dark Knight.” (Mr. Bale, as it happens, plays Batman; Mr. Ledger plays the Joker.) It is a physically and mentally draining role — his Joker is a “psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy” he said cheerfully — and, as often happens when he throws himself into a part, he is not sleeping much.

“Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.” One night he took an Ambien, which failed to work. He took a second one and fell into a stupor, only to wake up an hour later, his mind still racing.

Even as he spoke, Mr. Ledger was hard-pressed to keep still. He got up and poured more coffee. He stepped outside into the courtyard and smoked a cigarette. He shook his hair out from under its hood, put a rubber band around it, took out the rubber band, put on a hat, took off the hat, put the hood back up. He went outside and had another cigarette. Polite and charming, he nonetheless gave off the sense that the last thing he wanted to do was delve deep into himself for public consumption. “It can be a little distressing to have to overintellectualize yourself,” is how he put it, a little apologetically."

He died in one of the Olsen twins room in Soho on Broome street. I am sure the cops want to talk to her about this.

As of this morning, I do not see anything on the local news

That is not correct. Check here for what details are known about his death up to this point. Yes, it's kind of a tabloid site but they do constant updates as information is discovered.

Too bad about Heath. He seemed like a good guy.

Those Olsen twins are nothing but trouble.

I would love to experience that kind of double trouble...

high or exhausted?

It has been alleged that Heath Leder's recent video interview from a couple of months ago shows the actor clearly high on drugs.

Watch the video and see for yourself ... but be forewarend: this is a sad and disturbing video.

Very fidgety, indeed! But sometimes people who are physically exhausted and keep on going behave like if they were on drugs, on a high (caffeine, cocaine, worse...). They have tremors, fidgety maneurisms, behave nervously, show inappropriate emotions or disproportionate reactions (smiling too much, laughing for nothing). You are running on endogenous adrenalin, and when you are out, you crash.
I am not saying he is for sure not on anything, but it is possible he is simply exhausted. Sad.

Heath Ledger's death

His death reminds me a lot of the great Keith Moon's death. Very similar circumstances. Unless, of course....we later find out that his cause of death wasn't caused by an accidental overdose of sleeping pills.

Ledger's death caused by accidental overdose

(CNN) -- Ledger's death caused by accidental overdose
of prescription medications including painkillers, anti-anxiety drugs and sleeping pills, the New York City medical examiner's office said Wednesday.

"Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine," the office said in a short statement.

"We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications."

Hydrocodone and oxycodone are painkillers. Diazepam is an anti-anxiety drug commonly sold under the brand name Valium; alprazolam is also an anti-anxiety drug sold under such names as Xanax. Temazepam, sold under such names as Restoril and Euhypnos, is a sleeping agent. Doxylamine, an antihistamine, can be obtained over the counter as a sleep aid.

Well, what a surprise!
I am not sure what is the accident here. That he had all these available to him, or that he was not stoned enough on some of them to keep on taking more...
2 potent narcotic agents, 3 benzodiazepine agents, one antihistamine... Great combo to stop breathing...
I am not judging the poor guy, just lamenting on how we tend to call things...
