Well folks, the time has come for me to stop active participation in MERB. There are many reasons, including projects I am working on, but the key here is the fact that things on this board don't work, and the admins don't answer their mail on the subject.

I have attempted for more than two months to turn off email notification. Prior to that date, email notification was off, and I did not get any MERB mail. Since then, I get anywhere between 10 and 50 MERB mails per day reminding me that someone has posted in "this thread or that thread".

I attempt to go to the user options to fix this, but clicking submit on that form just gets me a blank white page and NOTHING ELSE. The optiions don't change, and my email continunes to get clogged with mail.

For those people here who has expressed interest or have already been interviewed for my documentary, don't worry, things are still on, I am working hard right now on some key parts of this project. Interviews will continue through March and April.

I will be checking my messages here, but I will not be adding to any more threads on this board until I see this annoying problem get fixed. Fred Zed and "admin" and other people don't seem to read their PMs and mail, so I am forced to put this in a public place.

It's really unfortunate that anyone has to quit the board because of a technical problem. You could try posting about this problem on TERB, that will probably get the attention of Fred Zed.

I'm also facing the same problem. I've been trying to change my profile options but without any success, a bit frustrating.

Op-out option.

You should e-mail the administrator and request an opt-out option to the e-mails or do like I do and use a secondary e-mail address.

You should be able to turn those off in your profile unless there is a problem with your browser but I have turned them off globally.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

This sounds to me like a problem at your end ( firewall or cookies not enabled etc ) - otherwise there should not be a problem editing any items in your profile ( other than the username - only admins can change that for you ).

Hi Merbadmin. I think the problems are still global, not just MATt or a few. From the options mentioned to "change avatar" etc. still get the blank white page. Will you turn them back on globally?

Avatars and attachments are disabled for everyone. Same on TERB and PERB. There are many features that are available on VBulletin. When traffic is low..it's fine to enable most of them. As traffic grows even the manufacturers of the software recommend turning off some features particularly those that are bandwidth intensive. Features such as Member lists, avatars and photo attachments are really a luxury - not really necessary to run an informative and viable site.
