Checked into Delta Montreal (http://www.deltamontreal.com/eng/index.html) recently.

Drove into the indoor garage where I picked up an automatic ticket stub. They were doing construction in the indoor parking lot and the parking spaces were quite small/narrow. After finding a parking spot, I took the elevator to the lobby. From the lobby, I checked in and was told that my room would be non-smoking with twin beds. I asked about the possibility of an upgrade and was informed that for about $20/night, I could get a king size bed and larger room in one of the upper levels. I asked if there was anything else that came with the upgrade and was informed that free internet came with the upgrade and free local and toll free calls (although I had my Montreal cellphone with me so I didn't really need this option). I opted for the upgrade.

If you give your automatic parking stub to the front desk and tell them that you will be using the parking during your entire stay at the hotel, they will give you a yellow stub which allows for in/out priviledges. The cost of the in/out ticket stub is charged to your room at about $22/night (taxes included). If you don't plan on using the in/out priviledges, you can find cheaper parking (both indoor and outdoor) within a few blocks away.

My room was nice. It was on the 20th floor (which is supposedly the highest floor that does not require a keycard to use the elevator). Everything worked fine. The heating system made what I would consider a lot of noise and I had to turn it off in the evening in order to get some sleep.

The room also had a balcony. I would say that the view was okay considering that there are a lot of tall buildings downtown and I wasn't facing anything of particular interest. Two of the SPs that I saw mentioned that the view was nice while the others didn't say anything about it.

The internet connection was okay but did have some noticeable issues with watching streaming videos. When browsing the internet (regular web pages), my connection would also time out a few times in the day.

I'm not sure if this was part of the upgrade or not but each day, housekeeping services replaced the spa sample products that were originally in my room (shampoo, 2 types of soap, conditioner, hand cream, etc.). They also replaced the bottle of water and the coffee (although I didn't have any coffee). My room came with a bathrobe which was nice.

On the first morning, the lady from housekeeping showed up at about 8:30am and asked me what time she can clean. Since I was about to take a shower, I asked her to come back in about 1 hour. At roughly the 1 hour mark, she knocked on the door and I opened it. She asked me what time I wanted my room cleaned. I informed her that she could clean it right now. She told me that she was not allowed or supposed to clean the room while there was someone in the room (which to me seemed stupid if the customer didn't mind). I informed her that I would be stepping out to the gym and grabbing a bite to eat between 10am to 11:30am and she could clean my room between those 2 times.

When I got back to my room at 11:45am, my room had not been touched. I waited a few minutes and then called housekeeping services because I had no idea when the next time I would leave my room.

The person apologized and I said that I was not sure when I would leave my room again and I would at least like housekeeping service before that time. She informed me that I didn't have to leave my room.

The view from my room's balcony was also very nice or at least that is what one of the SPs mentioned to me. She mentioned that I should always stay at this hotel when I'm in Montreal. However, since the hotel is downtown with all the tall buildings, I can't really say much about the view. From the balcony, I could see a little of the Olympic stadium on the far left. On the right, there were a lot of tall buildings.

Something to note is that they slip your bill underneath your door on your last night (most of the hotels that I've stayed at leave it on your door's handle or place it in an envelope). I was with one of my overnight SP's during my last night at the hotel and I'm not sure if she saw the bill since she got up to use the washroom once at about 5:00am. When I went to the washroom at about 6:00am, I noticed the bill on the floor.

I got a good/decent price for this hotel and one of the SPs that I saw actually didn't believe me when I mentioned the price that I paid per night for this hotel.

Actually, even the staff in the reception could not believe the prices I have been paying through Priceline. I think my last 5 visits have been consistently $50 per night, regardless whether it was a weekday or weekend. Last time I was bidding $50 on 2 1/2 stars and Delta jumped on it. BTW, I just love that tall, blonde receptionist. Everytime I am checking in, my thought is - I hope she doesn't know why I am here. Once when I was coming back from dinner with a well established SP, she did give me a sort of dissaproving look.

I like the heating system. It had a digital readout, and it was very responsive to controls. It also had C/F switch for Americans who are accustomed to Imperial units. The noise didn't really bother me, and gave me assurances that the heating system was responding to my requests.

The 21st floor requires a elevator card, IIRC.

The balcony was too dirty for my taste and I couldn't figure out how to open the patio doors anyway.

The Internet connection is very temperamental.

They do throw the receipt under your door very early in the morning, but many hotels do that.

I am also in love with that tall, blonde MILF receptionist.

In the winter they install something on the door that prevents you from opening it, unless you have a screwdriver. I was bummed out about it because one of Jessy's girls insisted on smoking and I allowed her since I didn't wanna kill the mood. The room still smelled of smoke six hours later so I ended up opening the door sitting with my laptop in the doorway between 2 and 3AM. I could still smell it when I came back from breakfast around 11AM. I was lucky I didn't get charged cleaning fee.

Yes, I do like the digital temperature readout and the fact that it has both C/F readouts since I'm more used to the F scale.

My balcony was also dirty but since it was too cold to go out, I basically used the balcony as a make-shift fridge to keep my drinks cool. The SPs that I saw also didn't have a need to smoke so none of them asked to go on the patio.

With the slipping the bill underneath the door, the only thing that really bothered me was that it wasn't in an envelope and because I was with a SP at the time, it bothered me. I actually went to the washroom at about 4:30am and didn't see anything on the floor. She went to the washroom at about 5:00am and I'm not sure if the bill was there at the time. When I went to the washroom at about 6:15am, I noticed the bill on the floor. I asked the SP if she noticed the papers on the floor and she replied "what papers?" so I'm not sure if the SP was just saying this or whether the bill/statement actually wasn't delivered at the time that she went to the washroom.

I also liked the blonde receptionist (if we are referring to the same blonde receptionist since I believe that one blonde receptionist checked me in while a different one was there when I complained about the television remote in my room).

Speaking of attractive ladies, when I ordered room service for one of the SPs, the lady that delivered the food was a very cute/attractive Asian. Based on her skin tone, I believe that she was Filipino. The SP that I was with actually went to the washroom a few minutes before room service showed up. When I let room service into my room, she looked at the room/bed and figured something was going on since there was a bra and panties visible on the bed. :D

I signed for the food and gave her the tip and she informed me that once I was finished, I should leave the tray and plates outside the door and she would pick it up in a few hours.

Like most hotels, payment for the room service can be done immediately or placed on your bill when you check out.

After she left, the SP came out of the washroom and I asked her if she knew that someone (room service) was in the room with me. She told me that she heard me talking to someone and assumed that it was room service. Since she didn't have any clothes on, she stayed in the washroom. It would have been somewhat funny/embarrassing if she would have just come out of the washroom while I was straightening things out with room service.

Room service charges $3.00 delivery charge to your room which is clearly indicated on the room service menu.

Gym

Forgot to mention...

I used the gym a few times during my stay and I would say that the gym was comparable to other 3 star hotels that I've stayed at. The gym was not as nice as the Omni - Mont Royal's gym facilities but there were enough treadmills, free weights, cardio machines at the Delta Montreal's gym for my liking.

There was no type of control to use the gym but then again, I checked into the hotel during what is considered winter and I wasn't dressed for winter when I entered the gym facilities.

I wanted to use the spa in the hotel (for legit massage) but because of scheduling, etc., I decided to forget about it. When I went there after my gym workout, I was informed that they give receipts but the prices seemed a bit on the high side for a legit massage but I guess it is comparable to legit massages at other spas/hotels. I generally spend about $55/hour for a legit massage (tip included). Massages at this hotel/spa were about $70/hour+taxes.

I agree that gym at the Omni is much better. I also love the gym at the Hyatt with the tv sets on the threadmills & exercise bikes. Also some sexy flight attendants from Air France or Swiss Air use the gym on a regular basis.

The one I was talking about is maybe 5'8", French Canadian with a cute accent, has highlights and a very pretty face. She kinda remotely resembles Jennifer Anniston.

Out of the blue she knocked at your door at 8:30 AM? WTF? I assume your DNOTD card was not on your door? They did that everyday?

No, the Do Not Disturb sign was there for my 2 overnights and she didn't knock on my door. However since one of the overnights was on my last night, I didn't expect housekeeping to knock on my door since I was going to check out in the morning and they would probably do a thorough cleaning when I checked out.

For the regular nights/mornings when I woke up alone, she did knock on my door at between 8:00am-8:30am. I had to wake up early to go to work anyways so it wasn't a big deal. For the 2 weekends and for Good Friday, I was in the room when she knocked on the door and I wasn't planning on leaving my room anytime soon/immediately.

I was already awake so it didn't really bother me. What actually bothered me was that she wouldn't clean the room even when I told her that I didn't mind her cleaning the room while I continued to work on my laptop. She "insisted" that I leave the room in order for her to clean it. I think that on Good Friday when she insisted that I leave the room in order for her to clean it, even when I left the room because she "insisted" and told her to show up to clean it within an hour, she didn't which is why I called housekeeping.

Even when I left my room on the weekend in order to accomodate the housekeeping service, she didn't vaccuum the room. She only made the bed, replaced the spa materials, and took the used towels and replaced some of them.

The only other thing that I noticed is the housekeeping staff didn't touch the money that I left each morning as a tip (I leave the tip in the washroom and it was obviously a tip since it wasn't loose change).

The gym at the Delta Montreal is OK, but not preferable, IMO.

The machines have a self-contained fan on them, which is interesting, as it cools you down while you're sweating. I've never seen this before on gym machines.

Other than that, the machines just feel "weird." I couldn't get used to the elliptical one at all. The treadmill was OK. The bike also felt weird, as I just couldn't get used to the weird pedal straps, and unusual bike seat height.

OTOH, the gym has a racquetball court, which is a plus ... if you have a partner.

I also agree that the Omni and the Hyatt have better machines.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that from the underground parking, you cannot take the elevator to your room/floor just like from your room/floor you can't go directly to the underground parking. You have to get off at the lobby to change to a different elevator.

IMHO, this is somewhat inconvenient if you're using the underground parking during your stay at the hotel.

I would write on a piece of paper "For Housekeeper" and put the money on top of it. Otherwise they will not take the money since they think you have forgotten it and will get it later. They could be accused of stealing the money.
