I'm trying to improve my Spanish from my current level (slightly retarded 5 year old) to the point where I can do all four things (read, write, listen and speak) well. I will be traveling to Spanish-speaking countries soon, but I'm really interested in the best ways to learn from the U.S.
There are many possibilities.
1. Private tutor
2. Group classes, either weekly or intensive weekends
3. Audio/Video lessons like Pimsleur, Rosetta Stone or Learning Spanish Like Crazy
4. Language books
5. Watching foreign language TV stations
I'd appreciate any suggestions on the best ways to do this in a relatively short period of time. Of course on my upcoming trip I will be putting a lot of this to use, but I want to have a better foundation before I go.
I am a motivated learner right now I can speak French ok although it's been getting rusty the past few years.
Right now I'm leaning towards an intensive weekend course along with buying Learning Spanish Like Crazy.
