Have to go to a wedding in Vermont late August, good reason to spend a few extra days mongering in my favorite city. Have been trying priceline for about a week or so, 3* (65) and 4* (82) lowballs with no luck. :( HDLM too high on line, nothing through Travelocity. Found Courtyard by Marriott Montreal Downtown through Expedia with free wifi for 129 US per night. Very little showing up on search. Doesn't seem out of the way looking at the map. Somebody must have stayed there at some point. Anybody? Thanks.

I have been having minimal success on Priceline lately as well but I have to agree with bond_james_bond and I would keep trying! You have until late August so there is plenty of time to get a bargain.

I have stayed there plenty of times. The location and rates are good. The rooms are small, SP's have trouble getting in after 11PM (they lock the doors and you need a room key at this time). One time I was asked to come down and let the girl in. Also, they do not have wine glasses or an opener in the room. Last time I stayed there I asked the bar in the lounge for wine glasses and they rufused to lend them to me without a room service charge. The manger from the desk called the bar and they reluctantly gave them to me. Also, one of the elevators has been out for several weeks and they only have one. The good thing is that you do not need a room key for the elevator. Also the fitness room is pretty week.

I prefer the Omni. You get a big rroom, wine glasses and an opener and robes. Also SPs can gain access at all hours.

If only I knew...
I've been there once. Rooms are nothing special. I wasn't hobbying at that time. If you have a car, valet parking is in a different building, a few blocks away, meaning you have to wait for your car for a long time and the valet actually drives it right in traffic, with all risks involved. When I was there, in -20 celcius weather, it took 30 minutes to get my car. That got me late to an appointment.
There's better in Montreal for cheaper on Priceline.

Yes, I forgot to add it takes forever to get your car.

I stayed there last year.

Tourism Montreal had a special on this hotel and a few other hotels - buy 1 night, get the 2nd for 1/2 price.
So I upgraded my regular King room ($139 the 1st night, $69.50 the 2nd) to a King suite, as it was only an additional $30 for the 1st night, and only $15 additional for the 2nd night. Was worth the upgrade. It was the biggest suite I had stayed in in my life.

If you get the suite, I suggest the 14th floor. Only 8 suites are there on that floor, so plenty of privacy.

The room was very clean, the bed was soft, the bathroom was a nice size. There is no drawers to store things in the bathroom, so you have to leave everything on the sink. But the sink shelf was long.

There is an Italian restaurant inside (Rotini's), and the food was good and reasonable. They are open for breakfast as well, but I know they charge for that. There is free coffee and croissants by the front desk in the mornings.

The wireless Internet was free, but the signal is weak. At least it worked and they did not charge for it.
My room was in the corner near the elevator, but I could not hear it. I also had a great view of Sherbrooke.
Parking is $17.50 a day, and you take your car in and out as many times as you wish.

Welllllll worth it!

Kayak

Give Kayak.com a try. It searches a bunch of the travel websites and shows you the best deals it finds. It found a pretty good deal the Jazz festival weekend when Priceline.
