Exclamation NHL 2008-09 regular season thread!

A great start to Montréal’s centennial season as the Red, White & Blue secure 3 out of a 4 possible points in their first two games – most recently delivering a convincing 6-1 ass kicking to the Toronto Maple Craps!

Well, it's well-known among hockey experts that the Leafs' objective this season is to tank it. They want to finish at the bottom of the standings in order to be able to draft John Tavares or one of the other top 3 picks. This is why they're still $10 million under budget. If they'd really want to win, you can bet they'd be right at the cap level. Do i like it? No. I'd rather have them spend that money on Mats Sundin & another good player in order to make the team more competitive.

But i'm not surprised by last night's outcome. However, i was shocked that they were able to beat Detroit at the Joe Lewis Arena on Thursday night. Expect the Leafs to struggle all season long at the .500 level & then tank it for good in the last couple of months. They should be a playoff team again in about 2-3 years.

For now, i'm still a Leafs fan and always will be. However, i'm as much a Habs fan as i ever was. Go Habs Go!!!!!

Thumbs up Toronto Maple Leaf fans have no class

Now that slug Tie Domi is no longer playing for Toronto, Leaf fans have a new cement headed pylon to cheer for; Hollweg - boarded another player from behind in today's game (another Toronto loss!) while Leaf fans cheered the vicious and dirty hit – no class what so ever!

A big win for the Red, White & Blue over Philly tonight – 5 out of 6 points from 3 road games to start the season! The Bell Centre will be rocking on Wednesday for the Habs home opener!

and we 're still missing Higgins, Laraque and Bouillon... We are gonna be #1 in east conference. It's be so ashamed to be living in Toronto and encourageing the Maple Leafs right now (and it's a tie with the Islanders) Somebody should make a poll on who's gonna finish very last in the East! so exciting....

As you can see by the post above yours, Leaf fans have already started to abandon their team in order to cheer for the Habs!

Thumbs down What a home opener!

A big win for Nos Glorieux over a very good Boston team. The atmosphere and excitement in the building was amazing - something you never see at hockey games in Toronto (unless the Habs are visiting! )

The opening ceremonies, with the "Ring of Honour" were excellent, a classy move by a classy organization - an example a sad sack franchise like Toronto could learn from except the Leafs don't have a storied history worth honouring - just embarasement and futility! Wait, didn't Toronto honour Tie Domi with a lavish ceremony at a Leafs home game!

Exclamation Surprises so far this season:

    http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?navid=NAV|STN|Main

Rangers leading the conference and league with 10 points

Sabres off to a 4-0 start

Detroit and Pittsburgh (Stanley Cup finalists) looking very ordinary

    Anaheim off to 0-4 start

Flyers with 0 wins! Well, not really a surprise, I predicted Philly would finish 9th and miss the playoffs

Thumbs down All is right in the hockey world - Habs win, Toronto loses!

A big win for the Red, White & Blue tonight against a very good Phoenix team as Tanguay gets a pair too bad about the vicious cheap shot by Sauer

    Are the Canadiens a religion?

    Worshipping the Habs

    http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=901528

Back in the days of Maurice Richard, there were tales of ailing Montreal Canadiens fans who claimed they had been cured by touching his jersey. Today, the young goalie expected to lead the team to playoff glory has been nicknamed Jesus Price. That Montrealers are mad about hockey is no secret, but students at the Université de Montréal will soon be learning that the fervour is religious.

    Doc my Dear,

Leave it to the Leafs Organization to find a "" rational "" explanation for NOT selecting Tavares even thought they would win the loterie !!!

Two weeks ago on Coach's Corner Cherry explained how they will simply
fuck this one up ! lol ! It was so funny !

So the Habs lost 1 game. Big deal. It's not like anyone expected them to win every game. I still see Habs flags flying on cars all over the city and I see maple leaves changing color, falling and getting trampled everywhere and they will slowly rot away over the winter...just like the team named after them.

And who cares if the Leafs get Tavares? It's not like one rookie player will turn that bunch of losers into a winning team over night. It takes a TEAM to win.
And the Lord said unto John, "Come forth and receive eternal life." But John came fifth and won a toaster.
