Hi,

I am curious about something. Is there a way in which people who are suspended from this board can have their IP addresses blocked so they cannot view it, or is a suspension merely a suspension from posting?

Sorry for the dumb question, but I just wondered if it is possible to block IP addresses from visiting, and I have no intention of incurring a cheap trip to the penalty box to find out.

Where I belong.
Suspended and banned members can view the board as visitors. What they can't do is sign in and/or post.

when i was band™ for a couple of days i couldn't read anything, so i didn't know the reason for my ban until the suspension was over.

WTF, look at the title of EVERY post you do. Combined with your handle, this could give you some clues... The handle isn't a problem but, combining with irrelevant, possibly offensive subject line on every post... Some might take offense at being ask "wtf..." all the time...

Hello bumfie,

While it is possible for the board admin to block an IP address from MERB access it would be a waste of time to do so. The majority of users do not have a static IP address and their address will change from time to time. Blocking an address will not block a user from accessing MERB. When a member is banned, they are prevented from logging on, posting and accessing any member functions of the board. They are not prevented from viewing the board as a guest.

When a member is banned, a message telling them why they were banned will be displayed when they attempt to log on. In rare cases a moderator may forget to post this message and they will have to view the banned members thread to see the reason for the ban. A banned member is always welcome to contact a moderator by e-mail if they wish to discuss the reason for a ban or suspension.

They should make this board only viewable to people logged in

viewing only logged on

doing this would prevent people who ae not members from reading important reviews .....not everyone wants to write on merb but lots of them like to read the reviews.........I have beeen reading for years but only recently became a member ....and I became a member to thank a fellow merbite for sending me to a remarkable women ....after reading his review...

TERB is already only readable by members. But personally, I hate this way of doing. Numerous times when looking for info on various subjects, when I need to register to view a site, I simply move-on because it's not worth the assle and I don't see why I would enter my info (fake or not) just to please a few peoples for whom it won't make any difference anyhow, unless they are just too curious or waiting to sell my info to spammers...

My experience is when you are banned, you are just cut to participate, not to read...maybe that could be something variable, and exist different ways to be banned..... I just don't know.... Only a Mod could answer to that properly...

WOW,

Hey Mod 8...you banned Maria????? Do you pull the wings off of angels too...lol.

Now, THIS would be silly. If you can't read anything unless you're a member, why would you want to surf to this site in the first place? To read nothing? In order to want to be a member, you also must have an idea what the board is all about. Not being able to see would only make potential members leave immediately.

Metoo is indeed correct in regards to TERB. You must be logged in to access the reviews section. Why this is so over there & not here, i dunno, but there must be a valid reason.
