OK, How are things really?

Friends-
It has been a few months since i was last in Montreal, and during this time, western civilization seems to have ground to a halt. In the US, the scope of financial disaster seems pretty large. Banks, Museums, Universities, Companies– all are shedding workers, cutting budgets, etc.

My question is this: how are things really in Montreal?

Are the agencies surviving?
Are the girls surviving?
Are the hotels dropping rates? (they sure are down here!)
Are Independent escorts and/or agencies making better deals to attract customers?
What's really going on?

I love coming up there, but when I stay at the Montreal Opus for a couple of nights, that's somehow $500 no matter how low the nightly rate is quoted, (I think Quebec just jacks up the tax to make up for any discounts!), and then I spend $500 on entertainment. That's a $1,000 weekend. And it's getting a little rich for my blood... Am I alone?

C'mon Urbanite,

I don't know how you broke into my computer, but stop cutting and pasting my email. Sounds exactly like me. Throw in breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks for a few days and add about $300 more. In fact, I've been to Montreal every April since 2002. That's in doubt this year.

The general condition of the economy has not had much impact on me...yet. But, even Bill Gates has gotten a bit cautious or concerned in these difficult and very fluid times, and you'd be foolish not to.

Things are booming here. Never been better.

What's this financial disaster you're talking about?

Seriously though... Although tourism is down, it's always down in MTL this time of year, so I don't think the effects will be felt until the summertime.

Escort business seems to be holding up but people are noticing more specials and discounts (also not too unusual this time of year).

Hotel rates are down maybe 30%, but the hotels know that if you are coming to Montreal in January it's not for shits and giggles. Either you HAVE to be here for work, or you HAVE to be here to bang hot 21-year-olds... Either way, you are coming, so don't expect rates to hit the floor.

Book a 4-star on priceline or hotwire and you'll save a bundle. Now is not a bad time to try to negotiate deals on multi-hour encounters, if that's your thing.
