How often do you get back to Montreal if you are in the USA? I'm thinking of heading back earlier than expected and hate being sweated by customs.. Theyll say you were just here? Why back so soon? Answer: I like cold weather..

Be careful! Use this excuse on your way TO Canada, not on your way back to USA.
Remember, in most US states, seeing an escort makes you a criminal...

This excuse, while entering Canada, might get you a few girl's names from the Canadian custom agent but, on the way back to USA, it might get you some silver bracelets from the US custom agent... :p

Customs agent are often totally uninterested in the answers you might give them to questions they ask. What are the chances of a USA custom agent know the score of a Canadian-Senator match? What they look for is your reaction before and when you answer. If you look guilty, you'll be treated as such. If you're confident, chances are you'll be ok. As long as you have nothing illegal hidden and you weren't meeting with gang members or terrorists, you should have no problem if you stay cool.

For those who fly, I suggest getting a NEXUS card. It work in car/trains but they'll usually ask you question, same as if you didn't have one. Usually when flying with a NEXUS card, they barely look at you.

On the other hand, if you use that card and they "spot check" you, if they find any traces of wrong doing, you will get prosecuted at the strongest level with no chances of plea-bargain. The deal is, with a NEXUS card, we trust you so, if you screw around, you're fucked big time.

I find that when you fly into Montreal the custom agents are more thorough than if you drive across. What I do is ensure that I have a reason to be there. Whether its a vacation, hockey game, jazz fest, etc. make sure that there is a reason for you to enter Canada and you should have no problem. Don't get me wrong, I have been grilled by agents on occasion, but if you are there for a reason even if the reason is to just party and do some drinking you shouldn't have any issues.

I've never seen any problems going into Canada. Coming back, speak in general terms and sparingly unless you're asked for details. I went shopping, strip clubs, whatever. Be truthful and consistent, skip the things you don't want to mention. If they trip you up over a dodgy story, even if you've do nothing wrong, you may have to go inside for a little talk and have to admit that you lied, which people often do at the border for some strange reason, when it's most often totally unnecessary.

When i was dating a girl from QC, i never ever had a problem getting over, or back, all i had to say was "going to see my gf" and "coming home from seeing my gf", at first the US Customs on the way back would grill me a lil "how did you meet her" "isnt it kinda far to drive to see her" blah blah blah, i looked at them and said "its none of your damn business who i date, how far i have to drive to see her , or how i met her"

JK! im not that crazy, but i just told the truth, i wish i could say that now but now they would ask me for a name, a number and probably for me to call to verify it all

I agree that you can tell the Canadian side some partial truths, ie., you are going to experience Mtl nightlife and spend money on our bars, etc. They won't mind that. I think you can be pretty safe returning to the US with the line about enjoying the Mtl nightlife and leave it there. If either side searches you - so what? As long as you have nothing to hide as far as items go, they have to let you through either way.

I went across the border to the US once just to buy dog litter. I expected to be held up and I did. Delayed me maybe 15-20 minutes as they searched my car. But I don't care. I got what I wanted during my brief trip to the US which lasted maybe two hours?

well, telling the US Customs the truth on the way back is not gonna get you in any trouble if you so choose to tell them, remember, its NOT Illegal in Canada, and when you were seeing a SP, you "WERE" in Canada

Im not sure of the facts but I thought there was some new USA law that makes it a crime to travel to hobby. If this could be remotely true dont say shit.

Call me crazy, but it's probabaly a good idea to leave out the part about banging hot Montreal SP's if your talking to a customs agent. Even if it is legal.

Canada customs pretty easy going, US customs are the dickless power tripping wonders!

Crossing over to Plattsburg this summer, I encountered a power tripping dickless wonder at the US customs booth. He asked me the usual questions, and at one point he snapped at me and said. " Don't look away, look into my eyes when you talk to me"! He did that just to feel all powerful and mighty. It is best to do what he tells you to do, becuase he can red flag you and you will have a hard time crossing the border at a later time. By doing this these guys can ruin your life or career if you need to cross the border for business. From what I understand the US customs service has to recruit from all 50 states, and most will be posted to th Canada or Mexican borders. Imagine a guy from Arizona posted at the musquito infested Plattsburg customs post. That makes for one angry dickless dude!:( At the Mexican border these dickless wonders get to patrol the border and make arrest, at the Canadian border they sit in a hut all day twiddling their thumbs an have nothing better to do than bother people.

I have first hand knowledge of a bunch of USA guys that went hunting up to canada, like 2 car fulls of ppl. 1 of the guys had a dui in the past, he was not driving, canada would not let him in, they had to draw straws to see who would drive back with the dui guy, then 10 guys got into a minivan for the rest of the trip.

I dont know what will happen, but be prepared to have your heart broken.

Hello lgna,

Care to test your position? If you want to, try telling the U.S. border officials you are coming back from Canada where you paid for "escort services", or be more direct and say you paid for sex...just to be clear about what the law covers or doesn't cover? Let us know how it turns out. But bring a video camera...I would love to see this.

Hello Coca Cola,

What lgna is saying is probably more opinion or point of view than fact. True that theoretically when you are in another country you are under the jurisdiction of that country, not the country of origin. But that may not exactly be the case in reality. I have seen several reports on CNN where the jurisdiction of U.S. law on prostitution has been extended over American citizens being involved with prostitution internationally. This relates mostly to human trafficking. But, these reports have also specifically noted new laws against Americans seeing prostitutes in other countries. Though these new laws generally target those Americans going to other countries to exploit child prostitutes it also seems to cover all international prostitution.

From experience, I have reported on this board long ago that Canadian border officials did catch me entering Canada with a list of escort agencies. In the end they said..."have a good trip". Coming back, I made damn sure this list had been destroyed before returning. If the news reports are accurate then it is against the law in the U.S. "to travel to hobby". Possibly I misunderstood the report and the U.S. was only considering such a law. But I suggest you let lgna test it if he is so confident, then let him report back to us after he is either proven right or after he gets out of jail. In any case I don't think it's a very good idea to risk the possibility of having this activity marked on any record they may make.

Good luck lgna...I'm rooting for you,

Merlot

Get that in writing from your probation officer on official stationary.

You can try this

Guys, try this..

Before you go to Montreal go to this web site
http://www.conferencealerts.com/montreal.htm

then pick a name of the conference that coincides on the days you will actually be there and then say that you are there to attend that conference. After that expect to name the hotel you are planning on staying. That is all.
