Is there a difference between a pro SP and an amateur SP?

I`ve perceived that I have met both.

There is something that I can read in a true cold pro. She tells me what she thinks I want to hear. Is she really happy to see me? No, not really....she only wishes I had ten times more money. I can detect a thinly veiled contempt for me. The kicker is the clock control and the cash register control. I can twist her body anyway I want on the clock but the counter must be ticking. She has two orgasms; one when I pay and one when I leave. She wants that much money to fly to NYC with me?!?!...ha, no way!

The amateur is more sensitive. She can be a mixture of guarded, careful sincerity. I can tell that she appreciates my company, (I think it shows that I`m happy to offset the living expenses of an honest, health minded, attractive, good natured, sensual woman that is 20 years younger than me and does not have a high paying job). These are girls I never want to damage, they deserve friendship & kindness.

Then there`s the screwed up pro and semi-pro that does anything to feed a bunch of problems. I don`t need to go into that.

Interesting. In my corner of the world - southwest Ontario - the opposite is often true.

The seasoned experienced professionals are easily identified by their sincerity, building good client relations and not watching the clock. Certainly they earn income but many use it to supplement other employment. Money is not the only primary objective. Often only available at certain times.

By contrast, it is often the amateur who is money hungry and operates her business as an assembly line. Can be unreliable if "a better offer" comes along while advertising 24/7 availability.

Interesting Issue - wide scope

The point you have raised here cuts to the very core of the whole issue of what goes into a successful encounter. This whole concept is a bit more complex in that it can give rise to other related issues. For example:
  • What are the root causes that go into this metamorphosis?
  • Is it a question of basic personality? Do some enter the agency for the first time and park their brooms at the door?
  • To what extent does background make an SP unfit for the job?
  • Had a barmaid I know well, make a very interesting comment, that there is one of three basic reasons girls get into it (SC, MP, SP) : love of (need or want) of: money, drugs, or sex. Comments?
  • To what extent do the clients contribute to the disenchantment of SP's (e.g. jerks i.e. bad date, physical attractiveness, age, disability etc.)?
  • Frequency leads to desensitization, becoming jaded – the novelty wears off and with it the appreciation for the client and the experience.
  • Treatment by those in the support end of the business e.g. fellow workers, pimps, agency owners, drivers etc.
  • Comments on review boards, reviews in poor taste, unjust comments etc.
These are just a few issues that come to mind. If one studies the reviews and from experience it almost seems that the independents seem to suffer less from this than say, agency or incall girls etc. Could it be that they see a better class of client, encounters tend to be longer, they have more regulars and the familiarity makes for a more relaxed encounter/ Or do they also suffer equally?

Is it possible that clients can as a group, say merbites, for example, through a policy to promote safe enjoyable encounters can contribute to helping SP's retain a positive attitude. Or is it that this change in attitude is simply inevitable i.e. “goes with the territory” and just something clients will simply have to accept as part of the process. That clients come from a wide client base totally unregulated and not possible to regulate.

One thing for sure that all will agree on: that the girl Mike defines as “amateur” is highly prized by all as evidenced by the use of the term “gem” on the board. Just as most dread running into what Mike refers to as the “cold pro.”

And "No!" there wont be a written test at the end.:)

Well, it's like in anything: some are good at what they do and others aren't.
I do not see this in terms of Pro or Amateur...but more in term of beeing good (service oriented, ...etc) or not.
I believe that "Professional" is a tag used in this business to guarantee some sort of standard of service...but then again, if
the girl is bad ... who would really care about whether she was professional or not?

Actually, you have the skills of a professional, plus the enthusiasm of an amateur - the best of both worlds. A true professional can make the client forget he paid for her services.

I see the amateur SP as someone who basically likes the company of a nice guy they trust. An instinctive feminine man pleaser personnality is in there. Perhaps the hope or the wish that something could come of this relationship. Perhaps there is a wish to settle down and to be taken care of by someone other than herslf. The desire to be loved and the need that she deserves to be loved.

A woman at 30 still has youth on her side. If she has a pretty smile, is naturally slim and has kept out of the sun she can appear to be stunningly youthful. At that age many women have ben throgh one or more relationships with screwed up guys (alcohol, drugs, irresponsibility etc).

Or perhaps this is my warped perception and the reality is that I am paying for sex and she is having sex for pay. All the rest is window dressing and has no deeper meaning because both of us are simply playing our roles in order to get what we need.

But having seen many SPs. And Sps having seen many clients.
I tend to think that there can be some sincere sympathy and empathy between the two people. How stable that is remains to be seen and it could go anyway anytime.

Oh we know what you meant but please take this advice: speaking and writing clearly will help you socially and profesisonally. Saying "That's what I meant" gets old and a burden after a few times.

I always enjoy getting my horizons broadened. As for your veiled insults. At least I'm not the anal compulsive with the cutesy pie moniker. ;)

Crisse. Je viens de regarder tes commentaires dans merb. Ce n'est pas fort ton truc.

Mike, although I perfectly understand what you mean, I don't really agree with the terms "pro" and "amateur". I may be wrong but it gives the impression that the quality of the experience is related to the age of the escort + the time she has been in the business.

I think that no matter if you are 20 or 40, if you have been an escort for one month or 5 years, there are women who love what they do and others who do it only for the money. And I tend to think that, unfortunately, most SPs belong to the second category.

You can keep a "fresh" and somewhat candid attitude at any age. It all depends of the kind of person you are and the way you view the sex trade. I am in my thirties and I have no doubt that many 20 something escorts are more jaded than I am.

Well at least you admit to being jaded, which is a refreshing change, most escorts that post on the boards won't. We just hear the same nonsense over and over again, that they all LOVE what they do:)

hehe. Blame this on my bad English.

I am not jaded one bit. I only see 4-5 clients a week (less than that these past weeks because business is not good right now in Mtl), men that I carefully choose myself. How could I be jaded? I do love being an escort. Sorry for disappointing you. ;)

I have nothing to gain by lying. I don't advertise here. And even when I did advertise, I wasn't lying. In fact, I probably should have been less honest. It would have been better for business!

You know what? I feel sorry for people who are so cynic but I guess I can understand why they would be in this trade. :)

For the most part I do agree with you, that most often it does depend on the escort herself. Some girls are sweeter, a bit more giving or they do enjoy the sharing and the guys for the most part, and they remain that way. They are able to maintain a positive perspective or they simply enjoy men and sex. And there are young ones who just don't like the job but the money is too good. They feel they can do the bare minimum and get away with it or just keep their inner selves completely behind an emotional steel plated suit of armour. (Not much fun I can tell you!). But would you agree that for many who are new at it, the novelty tends to wear off after awhile? There are so many guys that none become memorable? Some nights with so many to service it just becomes work? That perhaps the clients wont all be the younger studs she thought made up the majority of the clientele? And over the years this mindset becomes entrenched? Is that possible?

I can't answer you because I have never met several men daily and I can't even begin to understand how it is possible to do this for a while (i.e. more than a few days!) and still enjoy yourself.
