I was watching This old House on PBS. In the states they make these pre-fab houses inside a factory ( with full electrical and plumbing already installed ) and haul them over to the site and put them up like Lego blocks. These are not small houses either, some are 4 bed room, 3 floor large house. I would like to know if they do this in Montreal, or is this sort of thing for the USA only?

No there is a factory in a small town up towards Ottawa called Morewood. They started with the two halves slap together and now into the multi-module units. The beauty is that since they have to survive transport by truck the modules must be constructed beyond spec. This results in a stronger structure all around. They aren't taking over the housing market by storm. But they are capturing their share.
