Lil Kim did time for that

So should he

Maybe he should but he won't. This will continue to reinforce his opinion that he deserves better treatment than anyone else just because he was a good hockey player three decades ago.

Besides in the Quebec 'justice" (ha ha) system it seems you can randomly and viciously attack several innocent people in a metro station, leave one with permanent brain damage, and get off with a slap on the wrist or less because you can convince the incompetent "judge" (ha ha) that you are now a better person. Compared to that piece of insanity Guy's lying under oath is nothing.

Yes. Remember, Lafleur didn't lie to get himself off. His perjury was criminal, no doubt about it (something for which he wasn't charged - aiding and abetting his son breaking terms of his bail, I don't know if that is a crime here), but let's place this in context. But, what he did in and of itself did not cause material or physical harm to anyone. His conviction has an immediate and considerable effect on his present-day ability to earn a living (yes, the Canadiens are keeping him on, rightly, in my opinion, but he cannot travel to the U.S. Doubtlessly that devalues him as an employee, and has probably seen a decrease in what they are willing to pay, particularly since they are looking for business partners, who will look at all parts of a potential investment.

All just, and justified, but let's have him sentenced in the same manner as anyone else who did the same thing, with approximately the same circumstances surrounding the perjured testimony. No more, no less.

Well BJB,

"Over the last year, 24-year-old Mark Lefleur was tried on 23 criminal counts including: sexual assault, kidnapping, forcible confinement, mischief, theft, possession of crack cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana, threatening to kill a Montreal bus driver, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and damaging a bus. (He also he faces charges in a separate case of assault and uttering death threats.) Most of the charges stem from his "troubled" relationship with his underage girlfriend. He's a real catch."

"later admitted that he had personally driven the rascal to meet his 16-year-old girlfriend at a hotel, "because he felt it was important for them to spend some intimate time together."

If Guy Lefleur is guilty of anything it's raising a child to become such a creature...which he seems to approve of by helping him to violate an underage girl while under court-ordered curfew. Make that two jackasses...like father like son.

Mark Lafleur - Guy Lafleur's son, has Tourette's Syndrome. The families struggles have been well documented.

Pffffsssst,

So that explains everything??? You're saying with Tourette's criminal behavior is common, and one of the medically recommended therapy treatments is intimacy with underage girls...or not?

right, :D

From Steve Simmons in today's Toronto Sun:

Did Guy Lafleur do anything that any father wouldn't do for a son? It will be a crime if he does go to jail for doing nothing more than stretch the truth .

Charest has no plans to strip Lafleur of Order of Québec honours

What's funny is that Flower got the Order of Canada long before he got the Order of Quebec.

Il n'y a aucune raison de lui retirer ce tître.

The Order of Quebec? No. Since they've given it to Ginette "Will Play for the Hell's Angels" Reno, I don't suppose a little thing like a criminal conviction shouldn't come between a liar and his honorific.

The Order of Canada on the other hand should be stripped away, as quickly as possible.
