No there are still reported cases but the severity is significantly less than seasonal flu. Deaths in Canada, as of yesterday were 2, of which one is questionable because of severe pre-existing medical conditions. Seasonal flu typically kills 3,000 a year in this country.

When it failed to be the faceless killer it was made out to be by some the media quickly lost interest.

It would appear that there may be hope for WHO yet. Halfway through this article it states that they are finally going to respond to widespred criticism over their "pandemic" classification criteria and add a severity index to reflect that, aside from perhaps Mexico, more people died from the common cold than have died from the swine flu.

Nice article. Frothy right-wing political views you bring to the table aside, of course, which don't actually, you know, appear in the piece. Did Dick Cheney tell you the W.H.O. is bad because it is part of the United Nations, or did you pull that out of your ass, by yourself?

Lol the head of WHO should be canned for shinning a light on yet in yet another wrong direction while far more serious world health situations get very little attention.

The article was from the Globe and Mail ( and Reuters ) which is centre or left of centre so you can stop with the weak deflection of TTP's source and quoting Cheney's name. There is no connection. Not a very credible comeback on your part. Weak, very weak.

If Reuters is correct, and there is no reason to doubt them at this point, WHO officials are now admitting they screwed up on this one now and they need a severity index or risk people not listening to them any more. They are now in a situation where no one cares and yet they have to raise the pandemic level to 6 because the "sniffle flu" has spread a little bit.

His entire premise, were you to have read the thread is based upon the W.H.O. being an untrustworthy source (despite him not understanding how they work or function, or the role they play in the process) becuase they are peripherally related to the United Nations.

No, the W.H.O. officials are re-considering their existing index, to make it more workable. That doesn't indicate a screw-up to me, but rather, a willingness to adapt and change. As they should when something isn't working as well as it possibly could.

Not sure what the heck you are talking about. The whole premise is that the WHO system of pandemic classification, essentially their early warning system, is severely flawed. To the point where they risk "crying wolf" once too often and have people stop listening to them altogether. They now finally seem to be amenable to addressing this in an intelligent manner. Let's hope they actually do develop a severity level classification.

Your Cheney reference made absolutely no sense. If fact the only ones benefiting from the WHO alarm bells are the international drug companies who are making the vacine stockpiles. My guess is that you would classify these drug companies as "right wing".

And a parting gift just to keep your blood pressure up :D
