The Tonight Show's, and probably television's best known sidekick has died this morning according to news reports. The cause of death is stated to be pneumonia.
Ed McMahon was best known as Johnny Carson's sidekick on the Tonight Show and also from his own show, Star Search which was probably the forerunner of todays reality entertainment shows such as American Idol. In recent years he had a number of financial setbacks and was in poor health. Details of his death have not yet been released.
He will be missed.
