    new Montreal

with all the renovations going in and around Montreal and more planned by city planners, do you think Montreal will be better when they are done?

is this about the Turcot interchange and the Bonaventure expressway?

as i understand it, the turcot interchange is being renovated, so same old, same old

Bonaventure is being redesigned to give more precedence to public transportation and pedestrians; if the volume of traffic warrants this, then great

How about the facade of the Marriott Residence Inn that collapsed, crashed through a skylight and crushed to death a woman eating dinner at Mikasa Restaurant? Has this situation been fixed?

How do I know that if I walk down Peel or any place else downtown, that concrete will not fall off a building onto my head?

Same as in New-York :Falling debris can lead to New York City pedestrian accident, work accident, premise liability claims June 10, 2010
A sheet of glass measuring 25 feet by 90 feet plummeted from the 52nd floor of a high rise on Sunday, before crashing through a glass atrium, the Associated Press reported.

It is the second time in recent months that falling glass has endangered pedestrians on the ground. As our New York City Injury lawyers reported in March, a dozen people were injured at the Sony Building when snow and ice crashed through a glass atrium, showering glass and other debris on a gathering that included actors from "Sex and the City" and "Jersey Shore."

    Or ... Boston :ACCIDENT CLAIMS DOCTOR : Publish date:April 4, 2006
Michael Tsan Ty, 28, a physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital, was driving on Boylston Street wearing his green hospital scrubs when the scaffolding fell and crushed his Honda. The freak accident ended a budding medical career for the award-winning student from Atherton, Calif.

According to Massachusetts’ Division of Capital Asset Management, a worker sustained serious leg and arm injuries in the Salem construction accident at the Ruane Judicial Center site last summer because a contractor used the wrong kind of screws on a limestone panel. The 500-pound panel ended up falling four feet to the ground, where it broken into piece, some of which struck Stoneham worker Vincent Leahy. Lighthouse Masonry Inc. of New Bedford is the company that allegedly used the wrong screws.

EB, that's apples and oranges. Public infrastructures vs private properties.

If a piece of concrete falls on your head are you really going to care whether it came from a privately owned building as opposed to a bridge? In my mind the privately owned buildings are a bigger concern, because the reports I read in the media suggested that corners are being cut and these buildings in Montreal, which are exposed to the elements including much harsher winters than in US cities, seem to weather and date more quickly. It is still unknown what the Marriot Residence Inn has done to address this situation.

Frankly, I am afraid to go out on the balconies of the Delta Montreal because I think some of them are cracking. Eventually one of them will fall to the ground, perhaps with someone on it smoking a cigarette.

There was also a woman who fell to her death from the Holiday Inn Express for unknown reasons. I think I read a suggestion somewhere that something gave way that led to her fall.
