What are you going to use it for?

For business purposes, I'd go with the Blackberry.

The iPhone has tons of apps and accessories, though.

Why here?

Ocean, why ask questions like comparative service stuff about internet/tv/telephone and now blackberyy vs. iphone HERE?

This is a forum about purchasing sex. There may be some expertise here, but ultimately, you want groups devoted to such discussions, not hoping one or two people here can help out. Go to a place where the crowdcasting has many more participants and you will get a better sample size, and likely a better, more reliable final answer.

Guys opinions about Blackberry STORM (ONLY) versus Iphone 3g or 3gs.
I notice that the best plan is FIdo's 30$for 6 gigs, and then you can use skype.
Anyhow, I want your opinions from owners PROS and CONS

Since the blackberry storm have many bugs like when you type with the touch screen it sometimes freeze (and btw, the storm's touch screen keypad is a pure shit compared to the iphone touch screen). Its also a slow device... sometimes you click on your media and the media open like 3 seconds after...wtf... The blackberry stom really suck so go for the iPhone

But...

If you really want sometimg nice and the best of all, use the Blackberry Bold!! The best on the market! No bugs, really nice device and its the faster ;)

Ocean,

I've had both. I'm on the other side of the border and have used Verizon for years. Using Verizon, the Storm was my only option and I got on this past December. I found its touch screen unresponsive and its software clunky and unwieldy. I returned it after four days.

A couple of months later, I decided to go with the iPhone and switched to ATT, the exclusive carrier down here. The software, like everything Apple does, is very friendly and manipulating it is quite easy. The touchscreen is quick to respond.

Without even considering the apps available to iPhone users, the unit itself is light years better than the Blackberry.

LOL, my friends had the opposite experience, they bought iphones, husband and wife, and they found out ATT to be horrendous.
But yes IPhone is a solid phone. BUT there are control issues that Apple engages in that I do not like! :

1. You cannot use your phone as a USB drive on iPhone.
2. Instant e-mail notification (I think apple really dropped the ball on that one).

2. Expandable memory on the blackberry
3.You can play all media files including mpeg movies
4.Of course blackberry to blackberry messaging is free no matter where you are.

They are relasing a storm version 2.0.

I know people who hate ATT. I've had no problem.

You can use your iPhone as a USB. There are a number of Apps available that provide the capability.
2. Not true. I get instant email notification. I hated it on the Storm as I'd get a notification every time I sent an email from my laptop. I couldn't find a way to turn it off. The setting software was horrible and difficult to navigate.

While the software may be improved in 2.0, that won't improve the unresponsiveness of the touchscreen.

I had several blackberry models including the Bold and I agree 100% with the quote above. Light years is an understatement. The iphone is equal or much better than blackberry in just about every category except battery life. The reason the battery runs out faster though, is because people use the thing constantly!! Not a problem as long as you can charge it periodically. It can be recharged from 0 to 100 in about 30 minutes. You can find a totally new use for the iphone every single day. I would only recommend a Bold to someone who really cares about nothing except pinning and e-mail. It's a nice device but it's like comparing a Ford Taurus to e-class Mercedes. The real kicker is that there isn't a big price difference.

Is it true that the Iphone works better (ie. downlaods and all...) if you plug it to a Mac vs. a PC? Or is it completely compatible with a PC?

Works exactly the same with a PC.

No Mac required.

Hi, when you say you can use your iphone as a usb drive, do you mean that you have to use some software along with it like ssh, or can you just lug the usb cable into windows and it will recognize it as a external drive of some sort?

I hear that you have to have a prticular email service on the iphone like yahoo mail or mobile me (from apple) to get instant notification is that true?

I have both: the 3GS for personal stuff + the storm for business stuff.
The BB Storm is rock solid in all aspects: great phone reception/long lasting battery/rock solid hardware and so on. Really zero concern with the BB.
But my heart is with the iphone: fun gadget! I am just frustrated over the iphone's battery (discharges too quickly when using my vids)

I haven't done this, but a quick look through the Applications store shows that there are apps that allow you to do this.

I get email from both Yahoo and Gmail pushed to me. There are also settings for AOL, Microsoft, Mobile Me, and "Other."

Oh Yeah? Well I hate Verizon with a passion. However, I have a blackberry through Verizen (I have no choice in the matter). I love my Blackberry I just keep having problems with the track ball. I am going on my 3rd one in a year. I am starting to think that persperation from having it in my pocket while doing some light activity (hitting golf balls walking th dog etc) is probably the cause of this. Anyway this is a major pain in the ass.

I gotta hand it to Verizon. When I returned the Storm after using it for four days, they not only took it back (as I knew they would) with no question, they also took back and gave me a complete refund for the accessories that I bought for it. That I didn't expect.

Two friends of mine experienced the same.... Took it back within a week and got all their money back. I believe Verizon's policy is 15 days. One returned it due to slowness (I can't remember if this was network or device related) and the other just didn't like it as muchas he thought he would, at least that's what I recall.

MG_mtl,
It is fully compatible with both.
Had not seen any major diff btween an iphone connected to Mac Vs mine that I am using via a PC. It has more to do with the Internet carrier / speed of the connection.
