wishing I was in Montreal
I answered "yes" to 2 questions... Damn!

um, I mean, great, but if I'm not addicted, why do I have this overwhelming desire to be in Montreal?

Hi, my name is Voyager, and I'm NOT a sex addict!? ;)

Why is it I got blasted when I put up a link to SAA, thinking it would lead to some interesting discussion?

https://merb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=47875&highlight=addict

This thread is what I was hoping for when I published the link...

I guess it is because I put the link which included the web site and the 12 steps and all that jazz and not just copy and pasted the self-assessment questionnaire...

addict?

I answered yes to quite a few of the questions, sure, but I fail to see how this is a problem in my life. Is it really important that I feel ashamed or guilty about my habits and desires? Am I hurting anyone? I don`t think so.

I have an addictive personality. Sometimes addictions can destroy relationships and lives. I know that. I`ve seen that with drugs and alcohol in my past.

But sexuality? In my life, it keeps me sane and balanced, which I can`t say was true for other addictions I`ve had. I go to salons, mostly, when I`m stressed or down and I leave happy, so it works for me.

If that changes...I still don`t think I`d go to meetings to discuss it, though it may be helpful for some.

I used to go there few years back, beleive me the addiction can cause many problems. They are very supportive and can help people to realise they are not alone with this problem and have someone to talk to when they feel they're about to crack. The only problem for me was the constent reference to religion. As an atheist, this was not a valid reference to help me, but it can help some people.

But I can see the merbist live in peace with what you call "the hobby" and it's perfect that way!

While I'm tempted to criticize the questions as too inclusive (I mean who is going to tell their grandma for instance about their activities?) the subject is important and people have to be aware that the endless pursuit of sexual gratification is no way to live, and means your life is out of balance.

I took the test!!

And it occures to me that my results vary on where I am. If I am over seas the number is way to high to post:eek:

If I take the test within a normal home enviroment the numbers come up to six.

So yes I am a desperate sex addict with no chance of any help when over seas, and just a regular one at home. I think I'll shoot myself in the morning, but only in the foot!!! ;)

Libido?

Doesn't make much sense if you don't differentiate between a higher libido and sexual addiction. Perhaps as some have said it's partly about control. But even that doesn't answer it completely. What is the bench mark? How does one judge fairly. To me the only bench mark one might apply is if one engages in sex with such frequency as to seriously interfere with one's life. Beyond that it simply involves genetics and one's sex drive.

The other day I was on hockeyforum.com and someone asked :
Are you a hockey addict ?

Gee.... I had to think twice before answering !

Oh well you know I was looking for a link on google on 'how they make popsicles' and I don't know how I ended-up being a member of MERB.

What kinda questionnaire is this ?
Shouldn't there be multiple choices ?
I have only one negative answer so far !
Does it mean I win something ?
