Yup !

And in Canada they'll say it was Quebec's fault if there was 'un scandale des commandites'. After all we live in a democracy and 50% plus 1 is not enough so why not starting a scam and we'll just say after (if we get caught) that it was anoher to fight against les separatisses.

Oh and... where did I see the PC logo lately ?

At this point I think I should introduce you to a new political party I would name it the BS party. It would stand for 'The Bullshitters'.

We want everything without working for it and we will lie no matter what.

We will support the BankerS no matter what in their quest to get more money from everybody. We will support any loBbyiSt who work for the oil industry. And we will introduce a brand new Tax which will be called the BST.

This one will be the Breath and Sh*t tax.
For we feel that those are the last essential activities of a normal human being which hasn't been tax enough and properly.

I'm sure I would get a lot of support !

FH, are you a politician by any chance? :D

I'll accept a 50% +1 as long as it's 50%+1 of eligible registered voters, not just that percentage of those who actually get off their ass to vote. In other words, if only 45% of registered voters decide to vote in a referendum, there is no way to win a separation vote.

And don't get me going on the sponsorship scandal. If there was no threat of separation there would have been no need of sponsorship and nowhere for those companies to make an easy buck on the taxpayers's backs.

And I don't remember any banks being bailed out of any problems here in Canada so that point is a non-starter. We have a great banking system.

Oh yeah, I'd rather see the PC logo on a check than a PQ or BQ logo on a bill. Who cares what logo is on a check as long as they are giving us money?

Hey Techman

I don't care about BQ or PQ either as much as I don't care about PC or the Liberals, etc...

The BS is when you say it's a democracy and you change the rules when you want.

The BS is when you say we have a great Banking System when we all know how they make Billions of profit without being taxed as much as everybody.

The BS is when you accept that a political party puts its logo on a governement institution.

The BS is when you start a thread named 'Quebec' quirk as if what you see here, you don't see it everywhere else in Canada.

That's what BS is all about.

If you bothered to check out the story, you'd see that my thread title comes directly from there. And yes, it is just a Quebec quirk because it's not like that anywhere else in Canada. What the hell else do you want to call it? It's not bad enough that Quebec is a welfare state, we have to have this kind of crap going on. It's just sad.

PS: I really love this quote from the story..."The Quebec Municipal Affairs Department estimates 10 per cent of municipalities in the province have an ethics code." Only 10%!!! So the other 90% don't have to bother being ethical? Ya gotta love it! I should have been a politician.

Definition of 'welfare state' : a system in which the government provides free social services such as health and education and gives money to people when they are unable to work, for example because they are old, unemployed, or sick.

Funny...isn't it ?

The following is a list of federal and Ontario programs :

Federal Income Security programs
----- Old Age Security, Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Allowance (formerly Spouse's Allowance)
----- Canada Pension Plan
----- Goods and Services Tax Credit
----- Medical Expense Tax Credit
----- War Veterans Allowance
----- Employment Insurance
----- Canada Child Tax Benefit (inc. the National Child Benefit Supplement and Child Disability Benefit)
* Ontario Works - Social Assistance rates (eff. August 2009) + earnings exemptions and incentives
* Ontario Disability Support Program - Social Assistance rates (eff. July 2009)
* Ontario Guaranteed Annual Income System (provincial top-up for Ontario seniors receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement under the federal Old Age Security program)
* Ontario Child Benefit
* Ontario Child Care Supplement for Working Families
* Ontario Sales and Property Tax Credits

I find it amazing that people will do anything to defend Quebec no matter what happens here. They could be hanging anglos in the street and someone would find a reason to defend it.

If the situation the Gazette article describes happened in Ontario I would still have the same opinion of it. You can't defend the undefensible by using examples of past events elsewhere. When something is wrong, it's wrong. I really don't give a damn if the people involved are English, French, or Japanese or from Alpha Centauri. It makes no difference! A thief is a thief, no matter his language, race, creed or colour.

And if you have a problem with the word 'quirk', then take it up with the Gazette, not me.

I really don't see where this has anything to do with federal vs provincial governments.

Why are you so sensitive about it anyways? Are you related to a Quebec politician on the take or something? Gimme a break already!

MAybe you should take a look at how much money Ontario pays every year and compare it to how much money Quebec takes every year. Quebec takes out more than it pays. That is a welfare state. It has nothing to do with social programs when the province can afford them. Quebec can't afford them and requires transfer payments from the federal government to survive. Without which, Quebec would be bankrupt.

Quebec sait faire. Yeah, right. My ass it does.

Anyways, this is all off topic to the discussion. If you have a giant sized Quebec chip on your shoulder, that's your problem not mine.

Woups ! Techman... on est sur la defensive asteure ?

In your post you wrote 'only in Quebec' and now you say you would say the same for Ontario...

You wrote 'yest it's just a Quebec quirk' but now I should take it up with the gazette.

Mmm... interesting !

You really think I have to be related to a Quebec politician ?
Tell you what... drink a whole Coka-Cola 2L bottle and then let it out openly...

That's how much I'm related to politicians...:D

We played a quiz the other day 'Name someone'. You say an attribute and you come up with the first one in your mind'.

Hypocrisy was : Marois for women and Ignatieff for men.
Dumb and stupid : Bush and Pailin.
Bullshitters : Harper and Lisa Raitt.

Have fun !
