With the Eastern Conference looking like it will require between 88-90 points to make the playoffs this year, I figure Canada’s national embarrassment a.k.a. The Toronto Maple Leafs can’t afford to lose more than 10 of their last 34 games in order to have a chance of playing in a playoff game for the first time since the 2003-2004 season.

Will the first loss of ten come tonight against Washington?

Stay tuned................:D

Based on their pathetic record so far, they will probably have to play approximately 15 games to lose 10. Some of those 10 losses out of 15 games will be in overtime though so they will pick up some points.

Hello G1G,

I see you enjoy goading. As a Bruins fan it was a pleasure kicking Canadien asses right out of the playoffs last year. You seem to have forgotten that little tidbit. Ummmm, yeah that did feel nice. That's it for me in the hockey threads.

Have fun,

Hello G1G,

When it comes to the Leafs and their fans, yes I do. :D

I hope you enjoyed that one as much as I enjoyed the 27 out of 31 previous playoff wins the Habs have over the Bruins. :D

Have fun,

I am and will. :p

Capitals crush Maple Leafs

6-1 demolition of Toronto

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/capitals-crush-maple-leafs/article1433409/

Brian Burke hockey - with the game out of hand, the line of Orr, Rosebud and Mayers decide to goon it up :(

Yes typical Burke - no class at all. Darren Pang described it perfectly when he said that Colton Orr is at best a marginal fourth line player with extremely limited "skill" (ha ha). He pointed out that Orr was out of position, couldn't read the play and probably didn't even know what he was doing.

Let's face it: Colton Orr is a TYPICAL leaf: clueless, classless and skill-less. He's there for one reason only: to assault the better players (which in Orr's case means everyone else in the NHL). Garbage - like his team, his GM, his coach, and his fans!

Inconsistent Leafs blow lead in loss to Thrashers

... 14th place in the Eastern Conference, and 28th overall in the NHL ... presto - a 2-0 lead becomes a 4-3 debacle. Another two points slip away.

"We kept shooting ourselves in the foot," Leafs coach Ron Wilson told Leafs TV. "We gave up a couple soft goals."

Lose another game, go another year without making the playoffs,

With the Habs needing help from other teams after a very Leaf-like weekend I was actually pulling for them last night but naturally they did what they do best and lost a two goal lead.

2 down, 8 to go.

So far they're perfectly on target: 2 losses in 3 games, continuing their average for the whole season to date. (And they're 3-7-0 in their last 10.)

I guess David Letterman must have interviewed lggy before tonight's game:

Top 10 Reasons Why Iggy Loves the Leafs:

10. They're the 28th best team in the entire NHL!
9. Weren't those sex scandals at Maple Leaf Gardens great?
8. Colton Orr: the best damn player in the world today!
7. It only took the Leafs 50 games to chalk up 17 wins - now THAT'S impressive!
6. Name me ANOTHER team where the GM's son has announced that he's gay.
5. Tradition of excellence: Brian Spencer, Tie Domi, Jiri Tlusty...and the list goes on.
4. The Leafs won the Cup in 67 - and that's ONLY 43 years ago!
3. Sadly, lg is just NOT very clever!
2. Two words: Vesa Toskala!
...And the NUMBER ONE reason why lg loves the Leafs:
1. Hey, Doc loves them...and that's good enough for lggy!

Leafs blow another lead in regulation then take a too many men on the ice penalty in overtime to lose again last night. (Gee I hope that doesn't hurt Wilson's chances at the Jack Adams award :D)

3 down, 7 to go.

I don't think Wilson will ever win the Jack Adams trophy...but he should be a lock for the Jack Off trophy!

Man this is never gonna get old.

A SHUTOUT loss last night at the hands of another bottom feeder who hasn’t made the playoffs since the lockout.

4 down, 6 to go.

The question has never been will they lose 10 games but more how fast? Well it appears they will manage to do it even quicker than I thought so I have to give credit to Joel for his usual high quality analysis of just how low the Leafs can go.;)

Now looking at their schedule, they have eight games left before the break They play Los Angeles, New Jersey (3 times), Vancouver, Ottawa, San Jose, and St-Louis. It goes without saying they will be destroyed by Jersey all three times and they will lose to the Sharks and Canucks which leaves three games they must win in order to avoid a new low (even for the Leafs ) of being ELIMINATED BEFORE THE START OF SPRING.

Will it all be over before the Olympic break?

Stay tuned...................:D

The Leafs might have to look over their shoulders - with today's win over Boston, Carolina is only 5 points back of Toronto with 3 games in hand.

Oh please, say it ain't so! Don't tell me the leafs are in jeopardy of losing their coveted position of 28th overall! The horror! The horror!
