I don't know if you saw the Grammy Awards but she performed live with Elton John doing a medley of his songs and it was, by far, the best performance by any artist that night.

I know a few people who attended her show in New York City in January and they told me she is an awesome live act and this was evident in her performance at the Grammys.

It's not clear to me why she scheduled her 1st show on her tour in Montreal during the 1st weekend of Jazz festival, but maybe she assumes that since so many people will be in Montreal for the Jazz Festival her show will sell out. I was in Montreal last year for the Stevie Wonder concert and it was total chaos and a crowd like I never saw in my life and the police could not control it. Lady Gaga right NOW is the HOTTEST name in the music business. She has had 5 straight #1 hits on the Billboard charts, and she is an energetic live perfomer. The combination of these things plus Jazz festival may spell S-E-L-L-O-U-T. I am hoping my local connections will come through and score me some cheap tickets.

    "Bad Romance" Video

Two months ago I posted that I thought this song and video were awesome, since then it has set an all time Internet record number of hits by a music video:

Her latest video , Telephone is the best one I`ve seen since Thriller.
Only Gaga`s influence can make Beyonce into a believable "bad girl".

She's far from my favourite performer but she's known for actually singing live in her concerts and television appearances, unlike most other so called 'atrists' today. Her appearance on American Idol last year was amazing and it was definately live.

Just check out this video from France and tell me how many other of todays crop of 'singers' could carry this off live...

And here's her amazing performance from this year's Grammy awards...

And the Lord said unto John, "Come forth and receive eternal life." But John came fifth and won a toaster.

    Techman,

I saw the Grammy Awards performance live and I was stunned by it. Both Lady Gaga and Elton John were sensational and every other live performer that night sucked in comparison. I think Elton John fed off Gaga's energy and he looked genuinely flattered by the deafening ovation they got. And this guy is a major fucking star for nearly 40 years in the music business.

Lady Gaga is a native New Yorker (from the East Village in Manhattan) and she built a reputation as a live act performing in clubs in NYC over the period of several years.

I did enjoy her performance at the Grammy's, but not as much as the Black Eyed Peas (and Fergie) & Andrea Bocceli. Bocceli's rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters". which he sang with Mary J. Blige, was absolutely masterful. The tribute that night to Michael Jackson by various performers (Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Smokie Robinson) was also breathtaking!

When it comes to Grammy performances, one of my favourites is the Beyonce-Prince duet from 2004.

Maybe we should start a thread on the best Grammy performances?

if thats mediocre talent, well, to each there own i guess, shes very talented and not only has a very good and refined voice but also performs music, a 2 way threat that most singers are not these days,... she not only has the IMAGE down, but the Talent to back it up.... shes the Next Madonna, (success wise) but much more talented. Madonna was more image than talent, as is Britney Spears, where as Lady Gaga is more along the lines of Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, and Rhianna to name a few. Image with a Natural Voice to match.
