Fascinating Polish Film About Teen Prostitutes In Warsaw

Called "Galerianki" or "Mall Girls", it's the true story about young girls who trade sexual favors for clothing, jewelry and concert tickets in the shopping malls of Warsaw. Here is the New York Times review:

    Trailer

Here is the trailer for the film, 9:44 in length, in Polish with no subtitles, but you can pretty much figure out what is going on:

Hey EB, I guess I know where I will be doing my Christmas shopping this year (LOL). I watched the videos and that dark haired girl Melina is cute but who was doing the fat chick???? She wouldn`t even be able to buy a pair of gym socks for sexual favors.

Funny you posted this because I was just talking to a guy at work about the sex trade in Eastern Europe. He said that one of his friends used to love to go behind the iron curtain 10 years ago. He said that You could go into a bar with a few pair of pantyhose, buy a girl a few drinks, maybe offer her dinner and take her back to your hotel and bang her silly for loose change. The word on the street is that now that the mafia is in control that girls are all 300$/hour everywhere behind the iron curtain. I was recently in China (I realize this is not Europe but it is behind the iron curtain). This is a geography where good pay for a blue collar worker is 200$/month plus room and board. An SP in Beijing wanted 300$/hour for full service which included a massage and her cab fare. I couldn`t believe it! If the wages are so low I thought she would be able to put a smile on my face that you couldn`t pry off with a crow bar for 150$. I settled for a massage and a /Hj for 200$. I talked to the madam running the service and I brought up Montreal and she said ``you cant get laid in all of China for 180$.`` I was shocked when you consider the relative wages. But I digress.

I liked the following quote from the article. ``If you want to be cool and accepted at school, you need to have a good cellphone, designer shoes and a boyfriend. You are judged by how you look.`` I guess things never change. They say there are vending machines in Tokyo where you put some money in the machine and you get a girls phone number. You call the number and you are connected with a freelance SP that will sleep with you so she can buy a Prada handbag.

I guess next time I go to Warsaw I will call Stosh from Eleganski to see if they can send over a 18-21 y.o. version of Melina.
