The Leafs just announced that if you arrive at the game prior to 5:30pm today, you'll be served free beer until 7pm. It's part of their 100-year celebration.

I have a question, what happened with Prust ? Did he make the team or was he released? Haven't heard anything. I will say this about the Leafs , this years team is fun to watch.

He did not make the team. The Leafs are no doubt one of the most exciting teams to watch so far and with the youth movement combined with some quality vets, it should continue.

Leafs goalie crisis management raises questions:

https://www.thestar.com/sports/leaf...isis-management-raises-questions-feschuk.html

Two weeks into the NHL season and there’s already a goaltending crisis in Leafland.

he was handed a five-year contract worth $25 million.

Touted as a superior puckstopper by the Toronto braintrust, Andersen’s opening five games as a Maple Leaf have gone beyond poorly. Heading into Wednesday’s games, no NHL goaltender had allowed more than Andersen’s 22 goals against,

I must admit that the young Leafs played a heck of a game Saturday night in Montreal. Were it not for Carey Price's heroics, the Leafs would have walked away with a win. The Viking played his best game of the season! The Matthews line was great all night long!

I just found out that the Oilers are in Toronto to face the Leafs tonight. It should be an interesting game. I believe it'll be Connor McDavid's first game in his hometown and i expect a big game from him.

I predict an Oilers win. The Leafs may score only 1 goal. Or less. Cam Talbot's been playing extremely well.

I was wrong. The Leafs won on a great play by Nazem Kadri early in the overtime period. Damn.

By the way, the Viking played great. The Leafs didn't deserve to win, but Kadri and the Viking saved them.

William Nylander named NHL's Rookie-of-the-Month for October

Until i recently saw this in the news, i had been under the impression that William Nylander was ineligible for the Calder trophy since he played a certain number of games at the end of last season with the Leafs. I guess i was mistaken.

Nylander has played great and the honor is well deserved. Everytime he's on the ice, he makes things happen. People rave and rave about Auston Matthews (rightly!), but it wouldn't surprise me if in the long run, the likes of William Nylander and Mitchell Marner don't turn out to be slightly better talents. All three of them have extreme and unlimited potential!

Great game by the Viking last night in Buffalo! Indeed, goalie Freddy Andersen was fantastic & single-handedly got the Leafs two points last night in Buffalo winning 2-1. This was the Leafs' first road win of the season and their first win in Buffalo in two years. Rookie phenom Mitchell Marner scored both Leafs goals and was a threat all night long.

Other notes:

I keep holding my breath every time the likes of Martin Marincin and Jake Gardiner are on the ice. Andersen once again had to do a phenomenal save last night after a brutal Gardiner giveaway. And Marincin is slow, holds onto the puck too long and always struggles getting the puck out of the zone. Connor Carrick is also a defensive liability and i wonder if he wouldn't be better off spending more time with the Marlies. However, i don't think there's anyone that much better on that team.

However, it's not all that bad. I love Morgan Rielly and Zaitsev. Roman Polak is solid and always gives it his all. I'm also not certain Zack Heyman belongs on the top 2 lines. He's a hard worker, but he's got cement hands. I'd put either Nazem Kadri or Connor Brown on that line to add some scoring punch.

But the Leafs' main weakness is the defence. Lou Lamoriello must find a way to lure a top defenceman to the fold. Would Jacob Truba come to Toronto if the Leafs and Jets managed to make a deal? And no, i don't want Dion Phaneuf back.

Indeed Freddie A was a cement truck in net last night and about time he is stealing a game here or there after his awful start to the season. Looking good now however, lets hope it continues.

Hyman i agree needs to drop down a line to the third (true third, lets face it Matthews line might be listed as the third line but each game gets more minutes than the second and first usually) The guy they need with Matthews and Nylander is Soshnikov!

Nice to get a win in Buffalo for a change, the tide is starting to turn boyzzzzzzzzzzz!

Great win by the Leafs last night in an old-fashioned hockey game!!!

Andersen was once again extremely solid & Mitch Marner played another great game!!!

And it was refreshing to see some fighting in a hockey game for once!!! Of course, the fact Vancouver has lost 6 straight must be very frustrating and a major reason why they were out for blood last night. But the Leafs fought back brilliantly and showed that they will not get pushed around!

On another note, Nazem Kadri also played a strong game but may face discipline following a tremendous hit on Daniel Sedin. Sedin returned to the game after going through concussion protocols. Looking at it again, the hit may have been body-to-body, but it depends on which angle you look at. From what i can see, Sedin's head hit the ice after he lost his helmet (it was that hard of a hit!) and maybe have been the cause of him feeling a bit woozy after the play.

And finally, i've been very critical of him lately, so i'll point out that Jake Gardiner had a very strong game and was one of the best players on the ice last night. If only he could maintain this focus on a consistent basis. I also liked Connor Carrick and Martin Marincin's performances last night. Morgan Rielly, Nikita Zaitsev and Roman Polak played their usual reliable selves.

The Leafs are playing tonight against the LA Kings and will want to keep the winning streak going. By the way, the league chose not to suspend Nazem Kadri since they ruled his hit on Daniel Sedin to be a legal one. Matt Hunwick is also close to returning to the lineup.

Go Leafs Go!!!

I don't know which is worse, hunwick in the lineup or killary as president......ahh after a split second of thought, welcome back Matt!

There's a reason why Matt Hunwick was given an 'A' to wear on his jersey. I welcome him back anytime over the slow & slow-reacting Martin Marincin.

Hunwick had his brains scrambled early on and has been horrible and it has nothing to do with Marincin or any other player. Bring up a Marlie D-man Babs!

I don't think there are any Marlie defencemen who are better than what the Leafs currently have.

Question of the day:

"Why are the Leafs fucking up Frankie Corrado's career? Did he fuck Babcock or Lamoriello's daughter or something?"
