TORONTO — Police in Ontario are asking for the public's help to track the final moments of an escort's life.

On Sunday, provincial police identified remains found March 17 in Caledon, Ont., located northwest of Toronto, as those of 20-year-old Kera Freeland.

The woman had last been seen in Toronto's Lake Shore Blvd. W. and Queens Ave. area on Jan. 15.

Freeland had been living in Toronto for a few months, but was originally from Calgary.

She was working at Cachet Ladies, an escort agency, where she used the name Chloe.

According to media reports, she may have recently been diagnosed with cancer and may also have been pregnant.

Anyone who was in contact with Freeland prior to her death, or who may have information, is asked to contact police at 905-857-3304.

Dead escort had troubled life

by TERRY DAVIDSON QMI Agency

TORONTO - By all accounts, young escort Kera Freeland was living a life on the margins when she died.

The 20-year-old's remains were found Thursday in a ditch in Caledon, Ont., west of Toronto, just a few months after she had moved to Toronto to work as a call girl for an escort agency.

A friend recalled that in 2007 she was a pregnant teen living at a youth shelter in her home province of Alberta.

"She couldn't wait for the baby to be born," said Danzell McNeilly, who met Freeland at the Avenue 15 shelter in Calgary in the summer of 2007.

"She had clothes, a carriage. I don't know how, but she had money to get them."

Freeman gave birth to a baby boy, Jayden, in September or October of that year, said McNeilly.

Freeland was always optimistic and kind, he added.

"She would always put a smile on your face, (and) poke and prod you until she made you smile," said McNeilly, adding that Freeland would often talk about having a wealthy family but never spoke about her reasons for leaving home.

"I don't want people to see her as a hooker," he said. "She was a kind person."

Calgary friend Melissa Creyke had known Freeland for five years and said while she lived a troubled life, she was a good pal and cared for people.

"Deep down she was a really nice person with a really big heart with a really messed up situation," she said.

Freeland worked for Cachet Ladies escort service last Dec. 4 to Dec. 20, said Gregory Leslie, a lawyer for Cachet. Freeland left Cachet a short time after joining the agency to return to Alberta for cancer treatment, said Leslie.

"She told Cachet Ladies that she was going back to Calgary to get treatment for her cervical cancer," he said, adding Freeland vowed to return when she was well.

On the Cachet Ladies website, the woman is described as a "top model" whose daily rate started at $4,000.

"Gentlemen" would find themselves intoxicated by her "beautiful body and facial features," says the site.

OPP investigators, who have notified Freeland's family, are considering her death suspicious and have appealed to the public for information on her final days.

"Our primary concern is how she ended up on that stretch on Heart Lake Rd.," said Const. Peter Leon.

For her son's sake, it's too bad Kera had to be outed as an escort. Couldn't they have just published her name and photo and left out her vocation when asking for information? If the agency kept any sort records of when and where they sent Kera, many of the clients could be easily identified. In the case of clients who entertained in their hotel rooms, all it would take is a subpoena to uncover their names and addresses from the hotel databases, as well as hallway, lobby, and parking lot surveillance footage. Subpoenas are simple enough to get. Can you imagine getting a phone call from the police out of the blue over such a matter? That would suck.

It's highly unlikely a client will call the police. That's a sure fire way of getting put on the suspect list. Besides, unless Kera expressed fear of someone to one of her clients (unlikely but possible) or confided in one of her clients (would she have trustworthy clients after only a few weeks on the job?), what's a client going to be able to tell the police anyway? How many of us actually know where our SPs go and who they see next once they leave?

My money is on whomever knocked her up as being her killer. I doubt a client did it.

Escort was likely victim of 'bad date'

TORONTO – Calgary call girl Kera Freeland may have been killed by a "bad date" as she desperately fought for her life, her friends say.

Freeland, 20, who moved to Toronto from Alberta several months ago, was sharing a west-end apartment with a fellow sex-trade worker, and the friends often went out together on dates for protection, friends said.

Freeland was working by herself last week when her body was found Thursday in a ditch in Caledon, Ont., about 60 kilometres north of Toronto.

Police are still investigating what caused her death.

Her friends are trying to figure out how she met the client, or if he was a regular customer.

"She called her roommate earlier that night and told her she was having a bad date," said Tim Lambrinos, of the Adult Entertainment Association of Canada. "She said 'she was going to leave the date' and was returning home."

That was the last time her roommate heard from Freeland until finding out about her death the next day.

Lambrinos said Freeland was known to some of the dancers in the association, who told him what happened.

"She told her roommate that there was a problem with her date," Lambrinos said. "That's the information coming from dancers who were friends."

The "friendly and outgoing" woman had only moved to Toronto a few months ago to work as a call girl for an escort agency.

Freeland worked for Cachet Ladies escort service. Its website describes her as a "top model" whose daily rate started at $4,000.

Known as Chloe, Freeland left Cachet Ladies in December to return to Alberta for cancer treatment.

Const. Jonathan Beckett said officers are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.

"This is still being treated as a death investigation," Beckett said. "We can't confirm any information on a cause of death."

If this girl was killed by a client and she probably was this is one of the many reasons why the girls are worth $160. to $250. per hour. We so often see johns complaining about what they make per hour and comparing it to what the ladies make. Not only do these girls have to have sex with total strangers as if that isn't tough enough but they never know if the client they are going to see is a total nutcase who may beat them up or worse. There is a certain amount of danger in doing this job that does not exist in the more mainstream jobs.

If it's true that she was getting $4000 per client, i totally agree that many of her clients must have been total nutcases. Who the hell would pay that kind of money?

To pay anyone $4000. for a day is a little insane, you have to draw the line somewhere, i won't go a penny above $3500. per day:)
