The worst american

If you do a worst american George W. Bush is first George H. W. Bush (his father) is second, and the 3rd is very very very very far away

The greatest american probably is Thomas Edisson and not far from him you have Albert Einstein, and George Washington

In no particular order.

George Washington
Thomas Jefferson
John Adams
Benjamin Franklin
Martin Luther King
Frederick Douglass
Thomas Edison
FDR
Neil Armstrong

Lincoln

Langeweile,

A notable omission from your list is Abraham Lincoln. I would rank him #1. I agree with most of your other choices. I would add Theodore Roosevelt, Albert Einstein, Alexander Hamilton, and a few others for consideration in the mix. I would also submit our greatest Judge for consideration, Oliver Wendell Holmes.

You are right how could I forget Abe....
As for the founding fathers there is a much longer list. All theguys participating in the Federal Papers should be on there as well.
I just wanted to keep the list somewhat short.

Great American Women

Here is the short list of great American women:

Susan B. Anthony
Betsy Ross
Katherine Hepburn
Amelia Earhart
Eleanor Roosevelt
Rosa Parks
Billie Jean King
Condi Rice

I think Jesse Ventura is a great American for his performances in the Schwarznegger classic film "Predator" and the X Files episode "Men In Black" alone. Forget the wrestling and political careers, it was his acting career that defined his greatness.

Gotta love those Brits! I can kind of understand the Homer Simpson thing, but Mr. freakin' T?????? What, the 20-year-old A-Team syndication package has just made its way over the Atlantic? Or maybe the T-man has some kind of career going on over there that we don't know about.
