I am an American who is planning to visit Montreal in late May or early June. My main reason for visiting is to play tourist but as long as I am there I want to be able fully sample all that the city has to offer. Can anyone recommend hotels that are both convenient for tourists and hobby friendly?

While by no means an expert on Montreal, I'm a huge fan of the Hotel Nelligan, having stayed & hobbied there on three different occassions. Very romantic setting in Old Montreal, and very hobby friendly. Not the cheapest place by any means, but Travelocity has been running rates 30% lower than any other site I've found. Once caveat is that as its in Old Montreal, it's a bit of a walk from the downtown core.

If you want a cheap suite with kitchen, bedroom, living room and balcony, check out Candlewood Suites and Holiday Inn Express Suites, both are directly next to one another on Rene Levesque. You can usually book direct for around $100/nt and ofton find both on hotwire for around $75/nt. No problems with hobbying at either place.
