What happened to the baseball thread or what I call the Yankees-Red Sox thread? I dont go there much because only the Yankees and Red Sox exist in this forum. In fact I bet many of the Yankees fans were worried that the team would fall off the edge of the earth if they ventureed out past Cleveland to play the Tigers.

Does Mod 8 really think that Yankees-Red Sox fans can have a civil discourse on something like baseball...Oh yes maybe, they can discuss religion and politics in a rational manner but baseball? No way. The question is should fanatics be expected to have a civil discourse about baseball? I say this is the baseball thread and there may be no way to have a civil discourse here. These are Fanatics. What can be done? In the past there were warnings posted such as "No Fucktard Comments." This may have reduced the frequency or severity of outbursts. What else could be done? Here is a list of ideas I came up with.

1. Mod 8 could create two threads: The Yankees thread for Yankees fans only and create a Red Sox thread for Red Sox fans only. MERB could create a third thread for other fans like me that root for the feeder system teams that supply the Yankees and the Red Sox with free agents. This thread would consist of all the other teams in the American and National league...you know the AAAA teams. But why bother with the third thread. No one will read it. Not a good idea.

2. Another idea would be to leave the baseball thread unmoderated. Again these are fanatics. What can you expect from these guys? Didn't a Red Sox fan get beat to death recently by a bunch of Yankees fans? Or was it the other way around? This could work.

3. Another idea would be to moderate the baseball thread but only allow rude fucktard comments. Any civil constructive comments would lead to a suspension??? I like this idea the best.

It is too bad the baseball thread is gone because there are a lot of things I wanted to post. I wanted to say "In your face" to the Yankees fans after my Tigers beat the hated Yanks 3 out of 4 games. I wanted to boast to Rumples that the Tigers Ace Verlander, the best pitcher in baseball over the past 5 years threw his 2nd no hitter and was only one pitch away - a 1" outside101 fastball that led to a walk or Verlander would have had a perfect game. Verlander is the best Rumples….Admit it! In your face big time! Oh yes and I wanted to say that interleague play is way overdone. 3 to 6 games a year tops would be good enough. The Tigers get to play a bunch of teams I don’t care about and the hated Yankees come to town only once? And it is in May? Interleague play is way overdone.

What do you think?

The thread was closed temporarily as I have gotten tired of moderating it. No matter how many warnings I post, or people I suspend for a week, the lesson still has not gotten across. Moderating that thread takes more of my time than moderating the rest of MERB as a whole. This is not what I became a moderator for. If people refuse to behave in any sports thread, it will be closed until I feel like opening it again. Even in the free for all threads, certain rules have to be followed, mainly the rule regarding respectful posting.

The thread will be opened again eventually. If I have to close it again, it will remain closed until the World Series playoffs begin. Maybe.

overdone.

Wrong Coast. A San Francisco Giant fan was severly beaten (not to death, but nearly) by LA Dodger Fans. Since MLB owns the Dodgers, I hope the fan that got beaten sues the hell out of the MLB.

I thought is was a Red Socks/Yankees thing. My point is that the Red Socks - Yankees relationship is like Palestinian and Jew. In fact it would be much easier to solve the problem in the Middle East than try to make Yanks and Sox fans get along so why try? Just let them raz the hell out of each other. Maybe if it were allowed and expected it would become good natured?

The baseball thread is now open for posting. As such, there is no reason for this thread which is now closed.
