There was an article in today's Gazette indicating a 35% drop in arrests for prostitution in Montreal in 2010 compared to 2009: "Crime rate drops" (http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/...209/story.html)
The article itself focuses more on other crimes and does not discuss the prostitution crime statistics. However, it would be interesting to know what is behind the decrease. Have the recent changes in street prostitution in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve resulted in less arrests? Has LE been focusing less efforts on prostitution than in the past, despite some recent high-profile raids on massage parlours and incalls? Has the pending court cases in Ontario and BC had an impact?Increase or decrease in the rate of different crimes on the island of Montreal since 2009.
