There was an article in today's Gazette indicating a 35% drop in arrests for prostitution in Montreal in 2010 compared to 2009: "Crime rate drops" (http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/Crime+rate+drops/4841209/story.html)

Increase or decrease in the rate of different crimes on the island of Montreal since 2009.
Prostitution -35.1%

The article itself focuses more on other crimes and does not discuss the prostitution crime statistics. However, it would be interesting to know what is behind the decrease. Have the recent changes in street prostitution in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve resulted in less arrests? Has LE been focusing less efforts on prostitution than in the past, despite some recent high-profile raids on massage parlours and incalls? Has the pending court cases in Ontario and BC had an impact?

Any ideas?

Where exactly in Hochelega-Maisonneuve do SWs normally hangout? How can you tell if someone is a SW? I've never seen one in my life, only in the movies.

You've probably seen them but just not realized it.
Take a stroll along Ontario street one night from Papineau to Pie IX. You'll likely see what you're curious about.

I've actually came across a SW this past saturday night with a huge, I mean HUUUUGE pair of ( . )( . ) on St-Cath corner of Hotel de Ville. I've just walked by, and these two were doing the talking more then anything else for those interested.

EEE or FF, I still wonder. Maybe someone fortunate can clear this up for us...? Just curious.

Guys, this isn't the street action thread.
This thread is not really about street prostitution, per se, but rather about prostitution arrest statistics in general, although the follow-up posts have dealt more with the subject of the visibility of street prostitution. In terms of visibility, it is usually the raids on massage parlours and incalls which make the headlines. However, in terms of sheer numbers, it is the arrest of street prostitutes which probably account the majority of the prostitution statistics, even though individual arrests do not usually make the news. Viewed in this manner, I suppose one could argue that this thread does indeed belong in the street action section. Therefore:

To Mods: If it makes more sense, please move this thread to the street action section.
