I use Priceline or Expedia to get hotel rooms when visiting Toronto or Montreal. I normally stay in the airport areas, as they're more convenient.

In Toronto, I can get a **/*** hotel room for CN$55-75. No chance in Montreal or even outside the area. Since I'm not tied to the downtown, I even look for places in Longueiul and Laval. Heck, no. The cheapest ones areusually in Point Clair for about CN$85-100, which is a no man's land as far as action goes. (The further away West from the airport, the cheaper.) No, this was not during the Gran Prix weekend or Jazz Festival.

So what's the best option for a visitor to Montreal? Are the prices always more expensive in Montreal than in Toronto? What's the underlying reason?

Is there an excess supply of hotel rooms in the GTA vs. Montreal? I wannna understand the economics behind the higher prices.

My opinion is that there are much more hotel rooms in Toronto(Canada's business capital) but their are mainly used on weeksdays by business people and are less occupied on week-ends.
While Montreal attracts more people on holidays or week-ends.

You should also check more quebec based websites, like tourismequebec.com or bonjourquebec.com, they might be able to help you out. On the main page, just click to get the english version of the website.

cincinnatus, since you are posting on an escort review board I will assume you may want company while you are in Montreal. Really, why worry about twenty bucks when your trip costs so much more? If you stay downtown agency rates are cheaper which may negate the small savings for staying in the outskirts.

I don't know if this is odd, but i recently stayed at a well-known 4 star hotel in downtown Mtl & to my surprise one night, i opened the light in the bathroom & found a silverfish wiggling around on the floor next to the bathtub. First time i've ever seen this at a top-notch hotel.

That's disgusting. I performed a genocide of roaches and silverfish when I saw a few a couple of years ago in my guest bathroom. Bought me some Harris Famous Roach Tablets and never saw them again, except when it gets really rainy. I live in a wooded area near tidal wetlands, and unfortunately bugs are a problem when the weather gets really wet and rainy and you live in a ground level condo. I have learned this over time. Ortho Home Defense is also a good spray to use for bigger infestation jobs, from what I have heard.

In a downtown hotel, there is no excuse for them, if the hotel is properly cleaned. I can't recall ever seeing one in a Montreal hotel. Or any bugs, for that matter. I would have complained about it. Silverfish are disgusting, I hate them.
