Arturo Gatti's last fight

http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7382189n&tag=contentMain;contentBody

Arturo Gatti, who was found dead in Brazil, either committed suicide or was murdered in July 2009. Gatti won the Super Featherweight and Light Welterweight titles. He lost his Light Welterweight title to still Champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Gatti's most famous fight was against Mickey Ward. Gatti won 2 of the fights against Ward, losing the first match. Their fights are comparable to the Ali-Frazier fights, in which both fighters withstood so much punishment from the other, it was a wonder both were standing at the end.

CBC's 'The Fifth Estate' profiled the case on their Thursday evening episode. I was surprised somewhat that they even showed several pictures of his dead body at the scene. Prior to watching the show, my gut-feeling was that she had killed him. However, after watching the show, i now believe that she's totally innocent & that he likely did commit suicide. There's a lot of key details that were ignored by the private investigators hired by the Gatti clan. Here's a link to the full episode for those who wish to view it:

The private investigators hired by the Gatti clan had an agenda - to find evidence showing that his wife was behind his death because of the battle for his estate. Personally, I think she should make some type of settlement with his family, even if it less than the 50 percent his family asked for. It would show good will and her child needs to be part of his father's family. It will be interesting how the Quebec probate court rules.

Thank you for the link to the CBC story.

I saw the 48 hours show. The fact that stay with me is that the crime scene photo makes no sens. An unconscious body doesn't fall sideways. It just impossible. The blood stain are also really suspect.

I don't buy the argument that she was too small to do it herself. Gatti was drunk. She could have easily had blindsided him by hitting him to the head with an object and then use her purse around his neck with her feet behind his head and pulling. Pretty sure it would have been enough to strangle him, and it would also explain why the purse's cord wouldn't have break under Arturo body weight.

If Arturo wanted to commit suicide, why didn't he use a belt?

The suicide theory is based more on circumstantial evidence than the murder theory.

At 9:30 they talked about a test made by the Brazilian police where an 80 pounds dummy was used with the purse strap and the strap broke after 5 seconds, but according to brazillian police Gatti was suspended by the strap for 3 hours and then fell sideways. Just the blood evidence made this impossible.

There's a lot of hole in the Brazillian police report.
