A recent article (a survey from some professor at Université Laval) in LeSoleil put clients of SP in 4 categories:

The "shy" represent 23%. He's the one feeling very arkward when it comes to talking to women and seduction games

The "old loner" rates at 31%
with 2 sub categories: The "gentleman" who wants to be "touched"
and the "consumer"...the name says it all

The "always horny" married most of the time. 17%

and the "pervs", i'll let you imagine the special needs: 8%

The thing is...she interviewed 64 guys....Not much of a sample...she should have asked here :D

Here's the link if you can read French

What about the shy 40ish years old married guy who is looking for intimacy, to be touched by a variety of women, and is therefore always horny? I guess that makes some of us fall in more than one category. :p

I used the Google translator and fixed the non-translated words in the article as best I could. I think it's readable now. Sorry my French translation is not the best.

Who are these men who offer the services of prostitutes?

Marie Caouette

Sun

Who buys the services of prostitutes? There is the shy person, the dissatisfied one, the old boy who can be gallant or a vulgar consumer, the insatiable one and the mystery-maker (or pervert), according to enquiring of University of Laval.

With part of interviews with 64 customers of prostitutes québécoises, the anthropologist Pink Dufour drew this typology from the consumers of tariffed sexual services. It is the fourth study of the kind in the world and the first in Americas. The Scot, the Norwegians and the Parisian ones are already leaning on this question.

The enquiring one, which teaches at the Laval University, advanced in a qualitative study on the prostitution with 20 women practising this trade in Quebec, to try to include/understand the mechanisms which had carried out them there. "To the wire of research, said Mrs. Dufour yesterday in press conference, the men suddenly became abhorred to me!"

"I knew that all the men are not imposters, but I wanted to also know how men live and consume the prostitution."

It initially made laugh at it by the prostitutes nearby of which it wanted to obtain names of customers, the enquiring sexagenerian tells. Then, it obtained one or two names. As time passed and that sampling remained insufficient, Mrs. Dufour had recourse to the small advertisements in the daily newspapers of Quebec. It was the catch. "the telephone does not have the roll of the dice. The men québécois, of the silencers which do not speak especially about their sexuality ", kicked themselves on the telephone, ready to pour out the reasons which lead them to attend the prostitutes.

The shy person represents 23 % of the customers of the prostitutes of street of Quebec. It is a guy who misses courage to approach the girls in the bars and to make them the court. He loves the women and does not consider the girl that he raises on the street like a prostitute. For its part, the dissatisfied one, continued Mrs. Dufour, is married with a woman who deprives it of relations. It suffers from sexual misery. Hardly 15,6 % of the customers would be in this situation.

The old boys represent about a third of the customers (31 %). They are men who do not want to engage in a stable relation. There are two sub-groups among them: the gallant one and the consumer. First is ready to pay very expensive for moments with a prostitute ("he wants to be touched by it"), even if the sex is not the paramount goal of the relation. The consumer, wants sex to him. Not.

Fourth type: the insatiable one. "It lives in stable couple and it has an exceptional woman, learned the enquiring one, but it is never filled. It wants all the women." Approximately 17 % of the questioned customers correspond to this kind of men.

Lastly, the customers of the prostitutes count also those which Mrs. Dufour calls of the mystery-makers. Some would rather describe them as pervert. "They cannot ask their wife or to their mistress to satisfy their desires", it explains. Those include/understand plays of role, energy of the domination to the depreciation. There would be 7,8 % of Québécois in this group.

They are not all the prostitutes who accept this type of customers, known as the enquiring one. "the prostitutes have limits which they do not want to transgress. It is a significant gesture of despair at those which accept unworthy gestures."

Still let us underline that Mrs. Dufour also expressed interest to include/understand the mechanisms which direct some towards the procuring. "I wanted to check if they were close to the medium of the prostitution. And I have the proof of it. There is a significant presence of the prostitution in the family and relational structure of the procurers." Its study was very short on this side. It noted of it that an active woman in this medium will have a show of massage while a man will direct an agency of meetings.

Two important categories that are missing, IMHO, is the career man who just does not have time to date. Also the guy who happens to be in-between girlfriends who does not use our services when he is in a steady relationship.

2 missing categories

I agree with the second one Ronnie, but I'd say the career guy could fit in the "gentleman"...the old loner is a rough caracterization....that we could rename the "forever single"....

You think that if we push this far enough we could get research grants also :p ?

Your giving her exactly what she wants!

This is stupid to discuss a piece of garbage that could have easily been conjured by a writer for the National Enquirer.
It has no meaningful usefulness because it was a half ass piece of work done with intensity of a 3 month old. If the survey had a substantial number of respondants then it would have been almost impossible to create catagories and just continued the ongoing question. Why is it the oldest profession in the world and why hasn't it been universally accepted? She might as well have knocked on her neighbor's door and asked the same questions and come up with a similar result.
She did it out of intellectual greed. A sick desire to masterbate at the responses of men she would like to meet and fuck for attention. She targeted a venerable subject, got her name in the paper and now she can claim she has been published. Like being caught masterbating in public only to have the excuse that it was a scientific experiment when your picture appears on the front page. It should be forgotten as well as she for a less than inspiring waste of time. Her article should be put at the bottom of Paulie's bird cage to be discarded with Sylvester's litter box liner!

Thank you! P.S. I belong in the just slightly over forty catagory with a wife great job lots of friends and money. Now if only I had enough free time to get me some street action at night!

Sarcasm the next best thing to being funny!

"Old loner" is a very poor translation of "vieux garçon".

The literal translation of "vieux garçon" is "old boy". The female equivalent of "vieux garçon" is "vieille fille", which translates in English as "old maid". A much better English translation of "vieux garçon" would be something like "confirmed bachelor".

Whether or not such a man is a loner is irrelevant.
