a terrible contract but gainey needed to show other free agents he was serious about signing players and he ended landing gil, cammi and gionta. the yr prior shanahan even turned down montreal... that said a lot.

I believe he will finish the year in Montreal and be traded over the summer because his cap hit is 7.357 million but is actual salary next year is 5.5 million and 4.5 the year after that.

As a result any team who has to reach the cap minimum gets a 1.86 million dollar "gift" next year and a 2.86 million the following one.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]The hockey game most enjoyed by Canadians from coast to coast since 1972.

I would very much enjoy a 1.86 million dollar gift ....
    5 x 2-hour sessions per week = about 2000 dollars a week * 52 = 104,000 dollars ... 1,860,000 / 104,000 = a little under 18 years of 2-hour sessions each working day... more because of the holidays !!!

    That'd be SWEEEEET !!!

Mod, i've included the final paragraph of a post that you made on Dec 1st in the official hockey thread. Do your warnings only apply for that particular thread or all sports threads, such as this one? Just wondering.

Gomez' contract goes down to $5.5 million next season. Cammalleri's contract goes up to $7 million. There's an underachiever if there ever was one, who doesn't skate, work & even try to score in shootouts.

Wanna bet that he'll wake up the boobirds & take some pressure off Gomez once the glorieux's faithful find out about his annually inflating contract?

the avatar in question is just stating a fact that 1 or half-dozen Leafs players probably gets their gf to blow them while wearing their buds head gear.

it'd be nice if gomez could just play half the games... at least half. that'd be nice.

Blame Jacques Martin's system for Gomez' poor stats over the past 2 seasons. Offensive-minded players cannot thrive in such a depressing defensive system. Martin's killed Gomez' career, and now he's also well on his way to killing Mike Cammalleri's career.

i would've said sp's in MTL killed gomez's career. he needs to play where there's no distractions... clearly NYC and MTL are too much for Scotty.
give him an environment like whichever Alaskan city he came from ... like winnipeg, phoenix, san jose, edmonton, nashville, columbus, ottawa ... wait not ottawa! lol

gomez would excel in columbus. someone get scott howson on the line for pete gauthier!

    No kidding! Brilliant observation!

However, Bob Gainey was the habs GM when the trade was made. Not Pierre Gauthier.

(but to be fair, Gauthier was Gainey's right-hand man at the time)

Sp's?? You really think Scott Gomez has to pay women for sex? If you believe this, i have a diamond mine in the Lac St-Jean area to sell you!

Seriously, Gomez' problems happened as soon as he left the swamp.....i mean, New Jersey. There were rumours running around last year within the Mtl media that Gomez had a problem with white powder a.k.a. "blow"....and i'm not referring to the stuff that is on the ground. It was also quite well-known that he was a regular at several St-Laurent supper clubs & would stay until the wee hours of the morning.....including during the week & prior to game days.

Scott Gomez had all the talent in the world when he arrived at the NHL level. He could skate like the wind, pass as good as Adam Oates could, and could score you 30+ goals a season if he put in the effort. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any character & was easily distracted by many of the temptations life a big city can offer. For Scott Gomez, personal pleasure & well-being came first & foremost. The hockey team & his hockey career came afterwards. Time flies by & when you hit the 30's, you notice that your skills start eroding. You then start to wonder what happened to your 20's, and figure that if you just change a few things, your skills will return. By the time you realize this, it's usually too late.

Don't be surprised if The Scott Gomez Story returns next season in the form of The Mike Cammalleri Story. When he arrived with the habs, Cammalleri had become the player he was in his first couple of seasons with the LA Kings. However, distractions off the ice & the fact habs players are all treated like demi-Gods didn't help matters. Cammalleri then began to get involved in all kinds of business & promotional ventures off-ice & his mind hasn't been on the game since. He's a lazy player who doesn't appear to put in the effort in order to improve himself, constantly loafs & never backchecks, and is often the target of media pundits following a hab defeat. Over the past year or so, his lack of motivation/interest has reflected in his stats sheet.

Unfortunately for him, Mike Cammalleri will make fans forget Scott Gomez next season & the one after. I hope he's ready to hear a shower of boobirds on a nightly basis.
