I'm a little naive but my SP had markings on the inside of her forearm. I got a quick glimpse at it before she turned her forearm over. She had like 6 perfectly straight scars on the inside of her forearm one on top of each other like lined paper. Are they gang markings?

One of my exes starting hurting herself after we broke up. She started cutting and burning herself, in semi-hidden areas (flanks, near armpits, and inside the thighs) trying to "relieve the mental pain with physical pain".
Now maybe they're gang marking, perhaps, but if they looked like scars, they probably were and if perfectly aligned, sounds like a psychological disorder to me ...

TheDon...Quite possibly, or could also be what Guitarplaya describes as well. Went out with a girl that one day in bed i noticed a scar on one of her wrists and asked her if she had tried to commit suicide, she started crying if that tells you anything. She also had small "cut scars" here and there which you would not really notice unless looking for them as she was a beautiful girl. We had a long talk about things, her past, and she has the reminders forever about how bad she had it once and how far she had come, for the good. I say a prayer for her ofton.

They are almost certainly self-inflicted and not particularly uncommon. Girls who cut are typically calling out for attention and help, not genuinely trying to kill themselves. It's more a sign of depression than anything else, an disease far too common among young and old.

Any marking, self inflicted or artificial is a turn off for me. Tattoos. piercings, cut marks, ughh! I butt boffed an SP with a full back tattoo, I could feel myself going soft!

Good link, PossumTrot.

The way the first poster describe it it looks to me like a manifestation of self-mutilation (self-harm or self-injury). There are several ways to express anger or uneasiness (or even worst afflictions), what we call nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a type of behavior that seems to fit the above description.

Blue Oyster Cult had a creepy song called "Unknown tongue" about a girl like this.

Then she took her father's razor
And watched it cut into her palm
She put her hand up to her mouth
To taste the blood so holy and warm

Hello all,

They are almost certainly self-inflicted and not particularly uncommon. Girls who cut are typically calling out for attention and help, not genuinely trying to kill themselves. It's more a sign of depression than anything else, an disease far too common among young and old.

I've seen this happen for attention, rebellion, various self-identity reasons, usually indicating some form of response to difficulty fitting in, family issues, or other personal troubles. Sometimes it's combined with other signs of personal issues such as social withdrawal, hyper sensitivity, irrational outbursts, etc. Depression mixed with anger is a very common foundation.

She also had small "cut scars" here and there which you would not really notice unless looking for them as she was a beautiful girl. We had a long talk about things, her past, and she has the reminders forever about how bad she had it once and how far she had come, for the good. I say a prayer for her ofton.

It helps a lot just to have someone listen, anyone. Everyone needs reassurance someone cares, more so someone who is going through what we are presuming here. A good word about them can help a lot. :thumb:

One guy I knew had somewhere just under or over 30 parallel cuts on his arm once. It seemed to be related to much of the above and trying to fit in among others of like mind. For him it turned out just to be hard growing pains and he is fine now. For others...:(

Good luck,

Merlot

:eyebrows: ..great anwser indeed.

ive known a few girls that used to do this, they were stress cuts.
every time that she would be depressed, or stressed out..she would take a razor..and slice in lines.
self-mutilation is way more common than we would like to think.
i would assume that gangs prefer tattoo...open wounds as gang markings isn't the most convincing marking.
it also automatically leads to questions..where as a huge tattoo in black old english script that says 'dog's bitch' on her lower back..automatically leads to anwsers.
(true story, 'dog's bitch' is around st-laurent downtown..and im also assuming that 'dog' isn't far from there either..lol.

I wish I could examine her entire body in order to confirm whether this is a case of self-mutilation or something a little more sinister.

Since the hobby is a borderline world, then it's most likely this universe is populated by people who have borderline personality disorder (sps and hobbyists alike), self-mutilation is a sign of borderline personality disorder. .

In fact, women are more inclined to be diagnosed with BPD than men. What is more prevalent among men is APD (Antisocial Personality Disorder). In both cases there exist treatment.

My friend's wife has BPD. It's very hard to diagnose and very difficult to treat. My heart goes out to people suffering from it, it's one hell of a battle.
