Is it safe to Hobby in Mexico City, Mexico?

K

Kansas Frank

I'm trying to figure out how to get the greatest value for my vacation money. Montreal, Canada is destination number one on my list but I can't seem to get a reasonable hotel & flight package. :violin:

So, I looked into Mexico City, Mexico. Turns out hotel & flight packages to MEX are a bit cheaper -- I can stay at a Four Seasons in Mexico City for what I would pay to stay at the Omni or even at Le Westin in Montreal. But, aside from the personal safety factor, I'm thinking the SP's in Montreal are safer and probably provide a true GFE, no?

Please share your experiences vacationing or traveling in Mexico City and if you've hobbied there, are the SP's free of STD's? :noidea:  Maybe comparable SP's in MEX are half the price (like say US$100), instead of $160/hr to $$180/hr?

I don't think the mob in Montreal are as brazen as those in Mexico City -- a shot out with the federal police at the Mexico City International Airport!

Maybe suck it up on the cost of travel and lodging and go to Montreal? I don't have a problem paying $160/hr to $200/hr for the SP's in Montreal. Besides, my Spanish is poor.

Thanks simonpaul and gaste 25. I do prefer French and Anglo women and I love the food in Montreal. I have walked back to my hotel in downtown after clubbing 2 am in the morning in Montreal, feeling very safe.

Safe to hobby, but not safe to carry around money in your pocket to hobby. Then there is the hospital scam, where someone smashes your face in the street and a helpful cabbie brings you to a private hospital. You get stuck with a huge bill and are not allowed to leave without paying.

Look behind you.
Check out the Dominican Republic.... Also Mexico is safe if you use a little common sense.
But you can not beat the quality of girls and service that Quebec has to offer, even the ugly girls look good.

You would do better on the north coast of the DR.... less volatile then many Mexico destinations and one hell of a lot of fun!

Thanks for your tips guys. I certainly don't want to get mugged, hospitalized or kidnapped. I have a friend who is married to a Mexican woman and they just returned from Mexico after visiting family with the kids. The dude (Caucasian) told me he hated the trip and the kids hated it even more because it's almost like a third-world country compared to what they are used to at home in the States.

I don't know if Mods will tolerate the link.
I sure am not making advertisement for them anyway. It's just to know about..

Dont know about Mexico City, but stay the heck out of Juarez, for your own safety. Not a place anyone would want to go. Walked over the bridge (rio grande river) from El Paso into Juarez several years ago and it is nasty and since then it has gotten to be one of the most dangerous places in the world. But it is getting better

As quoted from http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/new...s-improvement/

Roberto Rodríguez, consul general for the Mexican Embassy in El Paso, said that 80 percent of the murders in Juárez are a result of organized crime related to the cartels; the remaining 20 percent are isolated. He credited the drop in murder to an increased presence in local and state authorities as well as the Mexican Ministry of Defense.

Having about 1000 murders within the first half of 2011, where 80% is for organized crime, and a mere 20% which are isolated. 20%, wth? That's still 200!!

And remember, this is in Chihuahua state. After pitbulls, should we consider the chihuahua as been the second most dangerous dog in the world, despite it's small size? Afterall, it's just about 20% the size of a pitbull, right?

So hobbying in Mexico, not for me thank you.

What about Columbia?

That country is probably as dangerous as Mexico. I was thinking Mexico City because the cost of a round trip flight is less than US$600. I figure you get what you pay for. I love Latin women but I prefer French and Anglo women. And I easily blend in in Montreal, which is familiar territory for me.

I think I'll stick to Montreal. :canada::cheer2:

Smart choice Frank, our fair city wont let me leave to go anywhere else either, (minus the occasional trips to Toronto for hockey and a lil fun on the side) ;) but I have to ask, how is the hobby scene in Kansas? Please tell me there are NO sp's named Dorothy

PS, I have a weakness for latina's as well.....one trip to el paso texas and you will think you died and went to heaven!

I did too, Iggy. Made it about three blocks, got scared and headed back. The people didn't scare me, the gun shots in the distance did.

I made it ONE BLOCK from the Bridge! Never heard gunshots or saw any violence, but on every corner all I heard from the taxi cab drivers standing outside their cars were "Amigo, you want girls? I take you" "Amigo, you want to have fun, let me take you to have fun, just get in my car" "Amigo, you want massage with nice Mexican women, come inside my cab, I take you".............. This Amigo high tailed it back across the bridge to the USA with a  goodbye forever to Juarez!
