A Day in the Life of....."JustaJohn"
Here is a scenario i might go through on a particular day:
I wake up late in the morning, having slept and rested as much as possible, to have the maximum energy and focus possible. Shower, then either call or email an agency or indy for an evening appointment. Have lunch, then check emails or messages to see if my date is confirmed. Once it is, i have several options:
Go shopping for a small gift. Stop by the ATM. Stop by the SAQ and purchase a small bottle of red wine and some coolers. Return to my room and spend the afternoon relaxing. I try to focus and imagine on how I'll want my upcoming date to proceed. What kind of mood will i want and expect? Will it be a romantic type of setting, or a basic 'hump in the hay' & just go through the motions type? Will my guest prefer romantic music, rock music, hip-hop, english or french? Should candles be brought into the scenario, and if so, how many (if any) lights should be kept open or shut? What should i wear?
At approximately 5pm, time to munch on something light. Get the donation together and put it into an envelope. Check emails once again to make sure there everything is going according to plan. An hour before the date, time to take another shower after a round of quick exercises within the room. Get dressed, spray some cologne, and put in the final touches. Go around the room and make certain everything is in order: the envelope is on the desk near the phone, which will make it visible to the desk. The candles are near the bed and at strategic locations within the room. The curtains are opened in able to expose a beautiful skyline. The music is ready, and playing. The bedspread is slightly open, and extra pillows are brought closer to the bed. The bottle of wine is ready if needed, and all there is left is to wait.
Shortly after the time my date is due to arrive, a knock is heard on the door. I check the peephole, and enjoy a quick glimpse at my blind date. I open the door, smile, and greet my guest with the obligatory kisses on both cheeks, and maybe a hug. I introduce myself, and offer to put her coat and boots away. I tell my guest to make herself comfortable, and offer her a refreshment. I show her where her donation is located, and give her permission to make her routine phone call. Once she sits down and we both enjoy our refreshments, we get to know one another better to break the tension. This goes on for about 10-15 minutes, and i then show her the small gift i bought for her. Very often, this is great strategy to help break the ice even more and be appreciated.
Well, once our refreshments are done with, it's time to move on to other things, and i introduce her to another piece of furniture called "Mister Bed". I light the candles, turn a light or two off, close the curtains a bit, and put on some easy listening music. We help one another of our excess clothing, and will embrace one another (and whatever) for the next hour or so.
Ten to fifteen minutes prior to her scheduled leaving time, my new friend will jump into the shower, and more often than not, will ask if i want to join her. I always accept. We spend these final moments together washing one another, and both getting dressed once again like we'd be going out on the town together. If time permits, we finish off our refreshments together, and talk about our upcoming plans and whether or not we will see one another once again, and when.
After a goodbye kiss and a hug, the door shuts behind her. I put on my favorite tunes, put out the candles and open the curtains, open myself a beer, and think about the great moments i've just had. To many, it would seem like going through many unecessary details. But for myself: Priceless!
