In the event this happens (unlikely) wouldn't it be cheaper to pay for an abortion than get a vasectomy? Not to mention pain and suffering of enduring the surgery on very sensitive areas of the body. Just a thought.

Quite a simple procedure and not particularly risky. You'll be sore for a few days afterward and, if my memory serves me well, you won't be doing and fucking for a few weeks. If someday, you want it reversed, that's fairly easily done as well, though the longer your vas remains severed, the lower the likelihood that the reversal will be successful.

I had one done 10 years ago & experienced a few complications, which are usually rare (but they do occur). I had to go back to the doctor's office & get the 'procedure' completed several weeks later. It only took a few minutes. Once completed, i was told not to have sex (without a condom) until i had some lab work done (sperm count) to make sure that the procedure was successful.

Generally, vasectomies are a rather safe procedure, but people will experience several forms of discomfort depending on each person's pain tolerance level. Myself, i refused ingesting any painkillers of any sort & preferred putting an ice pack below my scrotum whenever i'd be sitting down (watching tv) or when i'd be lying in bed. I was back to normal a few days after the final procedure, and the end-result was successful.

Indeed, although very rare, there have been unfortunate occasions where someone got pregnant even though the male had previously underwent a vasectomy.

Nothing is 100% full proof, including vasectomies.

Abortion of the fetus is 100%. They remove the fetus and it cannot survive when thrown in a medical waste pail. I go back to the question of why not pay for something that is 100% and cheaper as opposed to something that is less than 100% and more expensive. Does not make any sense to me.

You might try your family doctor first and he'll refer you.
Fount this: http://www.votrevasectomie.ca/index.en.html Pretty good explanation. This place propose a job without scalpel. I can do it for you if you like, give me a hammer... ;)

I've heard the canals used by sperm have a tendency to "grow" in some men after a vasectomy and somehow the cut ends sometimes find each other and reconnect. Same is supposedly true for the fallopian tubes of some women. Folklore or truth, I don't know but it's probably rare.

I know a few guys who got the job done and besides the dark look they gave anybody moving fast in their direction (Don't touch me!!) and a strange slow way to walk, they were all back to normal life (sans sexe) within a few days.

Some even didn't take more than the time it took at the doctor on sick leave. Done in the morning, back to work in the afternoon. I always told these guys they weren't tough, they just didn't have balls to start with so whatever happened in that area couldn't hurt anyway.

As far as costs, I wouldn't be surprise if it's covered by the RAMQ in Quebec.
EDIT: From site above,
[h=2]Costs[/h]
Patient WITH
a VALID Quebec's medicare card
$150
Patient WITHOUT
a VALID Quebec's medicare card
$260
Patient from outside Quebec$360

Today's method for vasectomy, at least, in Québec, are virtually 100% sure. No other method comes even close to it. One suggestion: when they tell you to put ice after the operation, DO IT! I did not. I got a red patch covering all my scrotum and half of one of my thighs for 10 days.

EB, vasectomies are free in Québec. I think costs are equivalent for a vasectomy and an abortion in USA. Physical and psychological costs and risks of those two operations do not even compare.

i thought we were talking about a way to avoid an abortion:confused:

From what is discussed here you could have a vasectomy and then an abortion if it is in the .03% where the sperm swims through. Why pay for two operations when only one would have done the ultimate job of there being no baby? makes no sense.

Why are you bringing up abortion?? No one's brought it up until you did.

By the way, vasectomies are free in Canada. Canada has had Obamacare a.k.a. Romneycare for nearly a century & Canadians don't have to worry about their healthcare costs when they get sick and/or older.

I don't remember the doctor, but he was in Longueuil a few minutes across the bridge. 100% FREE
15 minute job done in his office.

Pain-wise, similar to having a tooth pulled out, a dull, lingering pain that lasts a good two days. Had it done on a Friday after work, was back at work the next Monday. No big deal.

However, I should have gone the extra mile and had the testes removed entirely, no point in leaving them (in) there. Nothing to get squished & cause pain, plus can't get cancer there if they're gone.

Plus a smaller nutsack that doesn't sink to your knees when you get to be EagerBeaver's age...

The origal poster refered to some girls trying to "baby rape" him. If that's the case and her goal is to get pregnant in the first place then why would she agree to an abortion? This is what doesn't make sense.

I did not know what he meant by the term "baby rape." If he meant that the lady sought impregnation deliberately I suppose abortion would not be an option. However, in cases where there is an accident or one is seeking to rectify an accident, which is what had been discussed earlier in the thread, the goal is prevention of a childbirth. This can be accomplished through the vehicle of abortion just as easily as through the vehicle of vasectomy with less injury to the penis. And at least in the USA, where I live and am posting from, at a likely lower cost since insurance ain't covering any of this. Snoodle's poster profile does not indicate where he lives.

Just the Beav being the Beav, Doc. What the Beav is overlooking is the simple fact that vasectomy is a one-shot deal. Pregnancy, and abortion, are subject to repeat performances.

Of course you must be joking. You are talking about castration which means killing the sex drive altogether. The only possible benefit would be that you would not have to pay for anymore sex workers.

A vasectomy can even reduce libido in a small percentage of cases.

Furthermore the sperm that no longer gets ejaculated to the outside can cause internal complications (this will be a bit technical):

"After vasectomy, the testes remain in the scrotum where Leydig cells continue to produce testosterone and other male hormones that continue to be secreted into the blood stream.

Some studies find that sexual desire is unaffected in over 90% of vasectomized men, whereas other studies find higher rates of diminished sexual desire, for example nearly 20%. The sperm-filled fluid from the testes contributes about 10% to the volume of an ejaculation (in men who are not vasectomized) and does not significantly affect the appearance, taste, texture, or smell of the ejaculate.

When the vasectomy is complete, sperm cannot exit the body through the penis. Sperm are still produced by the testicles, but they are broken down and absorbed by the body. Much fluid content is absorbed by membranes in the epididymis, and much solid content is broken down by the responding macrophages and re-absorbed via the blood stream. Sperm is matured in the epididymis for about a month once it leaves the testicles. Approximately 50% of the sperm produced never make it to the orgasmic stage in a non-vasectomized man.

After vasectomy, the membranes increase in size to absorb and store more fluid; this triggering of the immune system causes more macrophages to be recruited to break down and re-absorb more of the solid content. Within one year after a vasectomy, sixty to seventy percent of vasectomized men develop antisperm antibodies. In some cases, vasitis nodosa, a benign proliferation of the ductular epithelium, can also result. The buildup of sperm increases pressure in the vas deferens and epididymis. To prevent damage to the testes, these structures eventually rupture in more than half the cases. The entry of the sperm into the scrotum causes sperm granulomas to be formed by the body to contain and absorb the sperm which the body treats as a foreign substance."

Eagerbeaver, abortion is just not an easy procedure.
What you don't understand, Wallseye, is that the Beav truly believes that women exist on this Earth to get between a man and his wallet. I've heard him state repeatedly that seeing escorts is cheaper than dating or an LTR. My sense is that he's not done either of the latter 'cause that sure ain't my experience.

In the medical field, abortion is not considerate as a contraceptive method.

That's not something offered by a doctor or a nurse to the girls when they are taking informations about what to choose as a contraceptive method who could suit them the most.

That's wrong to think it is.
