A sex worker was stabbed early this morning on The Main: Sex worker stabbed on lower Main

MONTREAL—One woman was stabbed early Sunday morning during an altercation between sex workers on St-Laurent Blvd.
According to Montreal police spokesman Yannick Ouimet, one prostitute suffered non-life-threatening injuries after she was stabbed near Montreal Pool Room on the lower Main.
The incident took place at around 2:45 a.m. in the area that once hosted Montreal’s red-light district. With the gentrification caused by the construction of the nearby Quartier des Spectacles, the area has seen an increase in incidences of violent crime.

There are several noteworthy items in the story:
  • There are still street walkers on the Main. I thought that they had all moved on to the East End.
  • It would appear that this time a street walker was the victim of another street walker, and not a bad client.
  • The article indicates that the cleanup of the area has actually resulted in an increase, not a decrease, in violent crime in the area.

I beleive they hang out in or around the peep show and in the small park just after you cross Rene Levesque.

They've been there for a while. I remember when I hung out at Cleo's, when I left, the girls shouted from across the street (near peep-show) for me to go and see what they called "a real show". I never dared to try, but I was sometimes tempted.

It is ironic that they wanted to close Cleo's and closed all those legit business like the restaurants and not the peep shows and bar on the other side of the street which is what is attracting all kinds of low life scums. Smh.

Cloud, a big company bought all that was on Cleo's side of the street, including all that's behind Cleo, up to Hydro Quebec. That's why the peep was not affected. The Montreal Pool Room was actually relocated from Cleo's side to where it is now.

All buildings that are vacant on Cleo's side are probably now illegally used as "no income housing" for all the homeless of the sector so, it's logical violence will go up. Before, when the buildings had legit business in them, the owners would shoo-away the unsavory caracters but now, the only sidewalk available is a free-for-all.

I walked down that area during the Jazz Festival to meet someone at the St. Elizabeth pub and actually stopped at the Montreal Pool Room and sampled their greasy fries, after purchasing a disgusting shawarma across the street. While I was there I observed a lot of scumbag types in the neighborhood. I also observed a peaceful student protest which was accompanied by Montreal cops riding on bikes.

You have too many unsavory characters and not enough sidewalk for them to operate. It is now a survival of the fittest and only the smartest, strongest and fittest of these unsavory characters will survive and rule that turf.

That area has always been that way. I'm glad they're trying to clean it up and take out the trash.

Keep the trash in the east end where they belong.

For the first time in MTL i explored it a little bit since i sleep here tonight. And wow ste-catherine goes for a long damn way line... LOL after many restaurants, 2 sex shops (lol) and many pubs i was finally able to locate where i wanted to do, that irish pub Haylies or something like that, was a sugestion from my receptionist at the hotel... well turned out it was just a casual bar, no dot game...(i asked for that) no pool... no nothing exept a dude singing and playing that sadly nobody was listening to... and maybe 10 or so customber in the bar... i asked for an irish imported... of course... being in a irish pub... i didn't want a shitty budweiser or any of these mainstream beers. I said to the barman, surprise me, and he gave me a red... wich was actually pretty good... but the fun was not there... and at 8.50 the beer....(10$ with tips) i drank only one and move... But ste catherine offered many fun things, i found an arcade... YES AN ARCADE !!! last time i played arcade was when i was 16... im 27...lol i entred and played myself a game of blazin angel with the plane driving control but i had so much fun playing terminator with the gun... cause when i was young i used to play T2 arcade ... wich was way better than the SNES port...

Anyway i pass all that you mentioned, Cafe Chleo and that area... and its truly not the area the problem, its those criminal acting badly. Gladly im not a nervous person, i fought a lot in my life and i know how to handle myself against a knife attack... (of course if somebody would brough a gun... i would be done like any others) and so walking alone in mtl dosen't stress me... but im sickened by what happen to people in general, the asian lady that got gunshot by that hitman lately, the streetwalker wich was stabbed, why people got to be so violent and animals... call me old school or call me a dumbass if you prefer, but what happened to the old "lets settle this out in a first fight" like in the past.

Im not the best exemple of a law enforcing citizens, cause myself i break some laws sometimes... yes i drank a beer in a dark area in mtl one night cause damn i wanted to drink it and have some fun with my buddies whitout paying a huge ammount of money in a bar... does that make me a criminal? thecnically i knew i shouldn't be drinking it there, but damn was i hurting someone? NO. I think the law should focus on the people that act like animals... instead of going for stupid laws that restrain good peoples... we should focus on he bad ones...

I was never drunk enought to behave so badly to hurt somebody. One time my friend said(cause i don't remember it, i was just too drunk) i was pissed off an ran outside at night in winter with just my tshirt and no shoes to calm down.... they search me cause of course i was messed up... and one of the girls found me first, my friend said she somewhat surprise me so i turned around ready to fight cause i was in a messy state, but i never swinged... i saw it was her and i contained myself... even drunk as shit(and im not kiddin, this rank as my top spot drunk night in my life) i was maybe an asshole, i was maybe saying shit, but i was able to see who where my friends, who where a threat to me and who where not...

So those people that stab, gunshot, punch or whatever... they clearly have issues, and im sure alchool can mess up a person to a degree but not turn a good person into an evil one... I saw an asian girl tonight... damn she was messed up... she stoped me to tell me the taxi driver was an asshole, and those people there where also asshole, but she was so drunk i saw her sing loud earlier, it was the second time i cross her path and she was fucked up... honestly i felt bad for me, maybe because im not from the city... but i almost stoped a taxi to ask to drive her home on my own money... drunk like that a tuesday night... ouch.... she was actually like in her 30s... not bad looking(not a bomb, but decent) so even at this moment i still hope somebody didn't took an opportunity on it...

Montreal is so fun for well educated persons, but damn it can be a screwed up place for some.... I mean i come from a village, where 2-3 young guys kicking trash can is considered disturbing the peace and my boss actually asked me to do nightt shift next week to prevent it... i know in my village i can walk alone at night and be safe... my mere presence would make these kids flee... they do that cause they think nobody is there to watch(they may have a surprise next week lol) But in montreal.... there some peope so weird... i saw funny ones, like that guy asking for money with a sign that had a funny story on it... He said i need money to be able to call the ghostbusters to clear my house of a ghost, at first i tough he was one of these nutjobs of mtl.... so i asked him "dude are you serious' then he explained to me... that was his way of asking for money, he didn't want to be pushing and well every week he make a new story, i found it original and gave him 75 cents i had laying around... why not, the guy at least try...its like these dude that play music, if i like it, i will give some quarters... i try to not be sucked off too much, cause its mtl and you know if you give to everybody eventually you will be ruin... but sometimes i spot people that truly need it, and the ones that at least entertain me... I cross path again with that guy 2 hours later and he said "thanks again man good night" so at least he was friendly and all, so i apreciated it.

Anyway all this blabla to say mtl can be so fun for some people, hard for others, and sometimes i feel for these poor souls in the streets, and i wish i could help them, it kinda make me feel guilty to come here and pay hundreds of $ for sexe... but at the same time so much are abusing the begging card, you never know wich one are truly in need... its hard to stay here too long for general people like me that come from small towns and vilage..... i guess im too good to close eyes on this, but at the same time im on a vacation, here to have fun, i can't give all my money to everybody.... i want to have fun and mtl is good for that.

So to come back to the original subject, im sorry for that poor women, hope she get better(from what i saw she didn't die) and i hope that can do some things to help prevent those things eventually... why people need to be drastic... damn you carry a knife, why not aim for the legs, very low risk of killing(only if you hit an vein and the person bleed to death) and you neutralize the opponent... but i guess those people didn't got the training i had... they either fear for there life or are plainly evil...

Anyway sorry about the bragging, im a little "pompette" and its late... im at my hotel room right now in MTL... and i just saw a glimpse of mtl... so i had to comment(every previous encounters i stayed at my hotel and quit after the sex session pretty quickly)
