    Info on how to search

I was wondering if it's possible to search with and AND rather than OR. If I do a search for john doe I get all the post for john and all the post for doe. I tried "john doe" but it doesn't work. It happens often for common names so i want to add more info do get better search results.

    Thanks

The search function already defaults to AND. The problem is that it will return results where "John" might be in post #4 and "Doe" might be in post #78. What you can do to avoid that, is use the Advanced Search function.

    1. Select the Search single content type tab.
    2. Type your keywords in the Keyword(s) field. No + sign, AND, or OR required.
    3. For the last option Show Results as, select the Posts radio button.

The search results will return the individual posts that contain the words you are searching for instead of an entire thread.

Hi Max, thanks for the reply but it's still not exactly what i was looking for. I want the keywords to be exactly like i type it and not found within a post or thread.

    Thanks.

You can use Google search for this one.

In the Google search field, type: site:https://merb.cc "search terms"

As long as you are loggen in to merb, the pages will come up ok when you click on the search results from Google.

This is true. However, the problem is that a Google site search of MERB will no longer return recent results since most MERB pages are no longer indexed on Google, ever since most MERB sections were made private. This is explained here: New changes to MERB - Most sections are now MEMBERS ONLY
For more info on how to use the MERB search function see the following thread: How to search??
