Mom, Stepdad Beat 7-Year-Old Boy To Death For Not Reading His Bible

Roderick “R.J.” Arrington was allegedly beaten to death by his mother and stepdad because he failed to read his Bible and finish his homework. Parents Markiece Palmer 34, and Dina Palmer, 27, are facing murder charges along with counts of child abuse and neglect for the late November beating death, reports the Daily Mail.

According to an arrest report that was released Monday, Arrington, a second grader, had recently relocated from Illinois to Las Vegas about three months ago; he had been living with his biological father and grandmother. The child went to live with his mother, Dina, and her new husband of only five months. It was the first time Arrington was meeting his stepdad.

Markiece told police that he only spanked Arrington twice, the first time for lying and the second time on that fateful day. The stepfather told police investigators that Arrington had allegedly told him that he hated him and had also informed him that he was not his father. However after further questioning, police uncovered the truth from Markiece that he had actually hit the child several times and had used items such as a belt, spatula, wooden paddle, and his hands.

The Mother also admitted to investigators that she had been present and actually participated in each beating as well.

On November 27, Markiece admitted to police that he spanked Arrington for lying about reading a biblical chapter. Dina also said that she had spanked her son on his buttocks with both a belt and her hand on the same day.

The next day, Markiece, a pastry chef and independent filmmaker, found out that Arrington’s homework had not been completed, it was about 9:30 p.m. and the child was fast asleep. The stepdad admitted to striking him with a belt on his buttocks for not finishing up his school work. He then said that during the altercation, the 7-year-old ran up against him with balled fists.

Markiece admitted to officers that it was at that point, he grabbed the child and shook him hard. Dina then interceded, spanking Arrington with a belt and then a paddle.

At some point during the whippings, the parents claimed that Arrington ran down some stairs and hit his forehead on a table. Markiece told the child to take a bath, then put cocoa butter on the open wounds on his buttock.

The child told Markiece he felt like throwing up, but his comments fell on deaf ears, so he went to bed and never woke up.
It was Markiece who found his stepson unconscious the next morning. When Dina was alerted to her son’s condition, she called her pastor who instructed her to call an ambulance.

When Arrington arrived at University Medical Center, doctors discovered that he had major bruising about his torso and massive brain swelling.

The child was placed in the pediatric critical care unit and further examinations revealed that Arrington had suffered several strokes, had fixed pupils, bruising on his arms, abdomen, back, legs, buttocks and thighs.

Arrington was taken in to surgery but passed away soon afterward. The cause of death has not yet been released.

Police obtained a search warrant to investigate the Palmer’s residence and discovered a broken broom stick with what appears to be blood, belts, cords, spatulas and bloodied clothes.

Ironically, the Palmers appeared to be a loving and staunchly religious family. Facebook postings by Dina depict a warm and loving Mother who adored her son with comments like, “I love them with heart and soul!!!!” she wrote of Arrington and another child.

The Palmers are currently being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas.

Not much different than it's always been.
There are more and more people on this planet so, more and more chances of something going wrong.
We are more connected to anywhere on the planet than we ever were, news travel faster.
People are more encline to report things that would have been left under the carpet before.

I just can't wrap my head around parents killing their kids. How someone can beat their child to death is beyond me.

The work of the Devil has been with mankind since the garden of Edan. I agree with Mod 11 , in that craziness and evil are nothing new, it remains a constant % of the population.

Don't let the media get you down there are still plenty of good people on this planet.

Neighbor charged with murder, rape of Jersey Bridgeman, 6

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/201...d-with-murder-rape-of-jersey-bridgeman-6?lite

By Kari Huus, NBC News

Zachary Holly, the Arkansas man charged Wednesday with the rape and murder of 6-year-old Jersey Bridgeman, had been babysitting the little girl the night before her disappearance, as he had many times before, according to a court document released after his first hearing Wednesday.

Follow @NBCNewsUS

Jersey's death came just months after a high-profile child abuse case in which her father and stepmother, David Bridgeman and Jana Bridgeman, convicted of chaining the girl to a dresser at night. Jana Bridgeman is serving a 12-year prison sentence, plus three years for a probation revocation. David Bridgeman is serving an 18-year prison sentence.

Jersey had since moved in with her mother, DesaRae Bridgeman, and began kindergarten this fall in Bentonville, about 215 miles northwest of Little Rock. They lived next door to Zachary Holly, 28, and his wife Amanda, friends of the family who frequently babysat Jersey and her 2-year-old sister, as they did on Nov. 19, according to interviews described in the affidavit of probable cause released Wednesday.

When DesaRae came home from work at about 11 that night, she went to get the girls, and after she chatted with the Hollys for a few minutes, Zachary carried Jersey to her home, while DesaRae carried the younger sister — and they placed them in the same bed, the document says.

Jersey was reported missing the morning of Nov. 20. Minutes after a search for her began, Jersey's body was discovered in an abandoned house two doors away.

The probable cause document released to the public is heavily redacted, but it reveals that the crime lab in Bentonville worked through the Thanksgiving holiday to develop a DNA profile from sperm cells found on Jersey's body.

Holly called Bentonville police on Nov. 23, according to the affidavit, and later showed up at a station, gave a statement — the details of which are entirely blacked out in the document — and then was booked on charges of capital murder, kidnapping, rape and residential burglary.

In Wednesday's hearing at the First Circuit Court in Bentonville, Ark., he was denied bond, NBC affiliate KARK-TV reported.

A child ...chained like an animal ...raped ...murdered by someone trusted to care for her.

What now? Let me tell you what now. I'ma call a coupla hard, pipe-hittin' nxxxxxx, who'll go to work on the homes here with a pair of pliers and a blow torch. You hear me talkin', hillbilly boy? I ain't through with you by a damn sight. I'ma get medieval on your ass.

It would be easy to go back to IRAQ and ask how (in what manner) 100k people were killed and I'm not even talking about by whom since all sides participated.

But then, AFGH, Colombia, Somalia, Sudan which we don't even hear much in the news. What about RDC with the deadliest war since WWII where more than 5millions died.

The world's f*cked up ?
It always been and even worse you can imagine.

People were extremely shocked at Nazi's concentration camps and how they industrialized killing people with gas since burning them wasn't fast enough.

Yet, we saw in Rwanda a rampage of killing using mainly machetes.

People get crazy over a couple of killing in North America for instance since it is sordid and goes into the media for days yet everywhere on the planet Millions literally dies from starvation while we the millions in North America eat like pigs and waste so much.

As Mod11 said... it always been but now, any news that goes around because of the internet and smartphones becomes a big deal very quickly...yet people forget as quickly.

Only during the time you read this (if you read it completely) more than 25 kids died from one kind of death that would have been completely preventable if it wasn't for the murderers wearing a tie playing in the stock market with food which they call 'a commodity'.

Don't get me wrong, Sick sh!t like what you guy posted that happened is making me ...sick too. Yet !

Take a break now and ask yourself how a society which boast itself so advanced in technology still ask the majority of it's working force to do the same stupid patern each and every day by getting up around the same time, and spending Billions of hours in traffic.

It's the same stupidity as anyone buying (sh!t) tobacco or drugs to kill themselves slowly.
5 more kids just died since...

People will see a kid being left dying in the streets in China and they will automatically say that it's the "Chinese" that are f*cked up.
The same will look at the picture made about the guy in New-York Subway and will automatically say it's the reporter who's f*cked up !
Not Americans.

Yet the same hypocrisy goes on against the Americans while we in Canada have the same stupid behavior which in the end is costing lives for... only stupid reasons. It has nothing to do with being a Chinese, American, Canadian, male, female, etc...

While reading this post, more than 30 kids died.
If you read the entire thread so far you have been reading while more than 200 kids died at least.

But hey, they didn't die in a war so there's no sensation here.
Only stupid mankind BS hypocrisy that it's never one's fault to live the way we live.

Now here's the kicker... since the rate of dying for children in the world because of desease and starvation is almost stable or growing since the 80'.
If you were born in 1990 and you only have 22...

More than 200 Million kids died since the day you opened your eyes...
And almost 2 Trillion animals were slaughtered in the US alone (the only no. I have) since.

Yep ! amazing hey how life can replenished itself ?

Then you get once in a while a full front page cover about one guy who saved for exemple 2 people from drowning thus becoming a big hero.
That's one superb way for society to turn a blind eye on the real situation of the our world we live in.

Frankly if I would believe in some sort of superior alien race coming on the earth witnessing what is going on.... I would (being them) have no problem whatsoever in nuking the sh!t out of us... so called 'human' beings !

Here's a fine list showing how grateful and caring human beings are toward each other... (the left column is (you guessed) an approximtive no. of deaths) during these fine moments. And the list isn't even complete...by far.

I am sorry to tell you all that this type of shit has likely been occurring for many many years but in todays age of more instantaneous and widespead distribution of these type of reports makes it just appear as if this is a increase of occurrences but likely it is not. You might just hear about it more often.

Our hearts go out to the poor victums and there families.

I know and I agree that we hear about all this shit a lot more than before. I just heard too many this week where kids were the victims. I can't help but think of my kids when I hear or read about these things. As I was reading the article about the boy in Vegas, I couldn't stop thinking about the fear he felt and how vulnerable he was. Completely under that man's mercy where he had none and a mom who, instead of protecting her child, decided to beat him.

In a good world, a person should feel love and be comforted by loved ones bedore they die. RJ was terrfied, completely vulnerable, and the worst, betrayed by his own mother. At that minute, he had no hope of a better life.

You guys were talking about an article about a sick rape and murder...?

Now lets see...

Last year the United Nations (a world agency which some rednecks late B*sh followers were saying was of no use) compiled statistics and produce a report on rape in the world for about 100 countries. And the number annualy is about 360,000 cases reported.

At the scale of Canada and the US ?
In Canada the average in the last 8 years is about 540 per year. (1.5 per day)
In the US the average is about 90,000 per year. (246 per day)

As for child abuse ? the USDHHS reported in the United States in 2005 more than 80,000 child abuse. (About 220 each day)
I'm not even talking about other parts of the world where it is a lot worse.

Is the world f*cked up ?
YES BIG TIME !

In the mean time... to make your day lighter... here's a nice little vid about 2 super cute lightweight girl ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4ujWFcuEoI
Have fun !

All of those horrible stories and unbelievable numbers confirm that mankind is far from being reasonable . Supposedly reason is what seperates us from animals...

I've heard her before, I believe she's David Foster's protegee. Incredible talent but not really my thing musically but still thanks for the link.I feel less defeated now.Music is always a great outlet when needing to exteriorize feelings. Along the same lines is the New York Post's publication, on its front page, of a photo of a man pushed off a Times Square subway platform in front of an oncoming train. Observe this photo which was snapped by a Post freelance photographer seconds before the man's death (scroll down to see NY Post cover photo):

We live in a society in which all manner of horrors are now photographed and videotaped with the advent of mobile and remote cameras: murders, bank robberies, etc. It's not as though these things did not happen in some mythical past time. You are just made more aware of them by a media which thrives on this type of eye-catching reporting.

...thanks for the link.I feel less defeated now.Music is always a great outlet when needing to exteriorize feelings. Something people should perhaps try,it might lower erratic behaviors.

Ur welcome. There's thousands and thousands of stories like this one but we hear them only once in a while when someone gets to do something totally incredible and yet sometimes just to be able to go on while hearing so much negative stuff is in itself something inspiring to others.

Peace !

Well I just wished that we could turn negativity into something more positive. What I mean is that it would be awesome if people would invest time, or interest in politics.Whether news are good or bad they should be able to motivates us somehow.

Look behind you.
You think things are bad here, hundreds of people are slaughtered daily in Africa but no news coverage. Yes it is a sad world.
