Charbonneau inquiry:Why are all the Italian guys clammed up or giving sideway answers

All the Quebecois guys called to testify are singing like birds and all the Italian guys have clammed up or are giving sideway answers. What can possibly happen to you if you cross the Famiglia?

I was thinking to be a bit more direct and incisive but, let's just say some off-topic posts were removed.

Some are experts at derailing threads and have been warned multiple times not to do so.
I guess, once more, warnings don't do squat. Then members get offended when we no longer issue warnings and suspend immediately. Here's why!

    Back to topic please.

    Thanks

Why is it ok to perpetuate stereotypes on italians but other nationalities, races and religions are off limits?

    >>> Pof! No more post!

"Why is that? No idea, I didn't read the rules so I have no way to know. Mmmm... Could it be because of my inconsiderate use of the "reply with quote" button?"

It's kinda obvious why the Italians aren't giving straight answers.

I'm surprised that none of them are using the excuse that they don't understand french good enough to give a straight answer.

I don't remember who but a couple of weeks ago one of the guys actually gave his explaination in english becuase he could not answer good enough in french.

JSN, saying all Italians are in the mafia would be a stereotype and wouldn't be accepted. This isn't the case in the posts above. The majority of Italians aren't connected in any ways to the mafia.

The OmertÓ doesn't mean a person is a member of the mafia, they can be victims.

In the case of Commission Charbonneau, many of the people involved have been formally linked to the Italian mafia in some way or another. Talking about Commission Charbonneau and Italian people linked to the Mafia isn't a stereotype, it's a fact.

For example (nobody steps on high gear please) If I accept this as a stereotype, I'd have to deny the fact all KKK members are white. Not doing so, it could be interpreted as a stereotype to say all whites are KKK. We all know it's not true.

It's not all the Italian descent people involved who are linked to the mafia either, most are honest company owners and workers who had to work with what they were facing.

It need to be clear, the "mafia involvement" isn't a blanket statement and we need to recognize there's a minority who make the majority look bad. Moderators will not accept any blanket statement painting all Italian people as being involved with the mafia.

    Thanks

Look I don't have a dog in this fight but think it is a pretty strong generalization you and others are making. There is a lot of organized crime in this world not just Italian and any time corruption comes up and Italians are involved it is assumed and said to be mafia. Substitute Jewish or Asian or female or whatever the category or class and it looks pretty ugly no? Btw and this is minor Wikipedia is an unreliable source to quote as anyone can add to it without substantiation.

Just my opinion and I am guilty of doing this also.

At this time Nicolo Milioto is on the stand and refuses to directly answer question, he is the go between that collects them money and delivers it to the mob bosses. I think talking would mean his retirement. Last week Joe Borsellino refused to give straight answers, he was a guy that use to play ball and get the contracts, but he also refuses to talk. FYI a few years ago a couple of thugs rang his door bell and smashed his head with steel rods, he went to the hospital with a cracked scull but did not call the police, the doctors called for him but he refused to give information. I think he has had a taste of what is to come if he talks.

The Quebecois guys that are singing better get out of town when the inquiry is over.

Mod erased my post on how much I like Italians, their culture and all their contribution to Montreal, Quebec, and even the world.
Did I ever said that the most gorgeous woman ever for me is Italian-American ?

But in this case of this thread the title mention Italians and the fact is all 5 sidewalk contractors who shared all the contracts for Montreal were from the same village in Sicily which happens to be the same as Rizutto. Nicolo Milioto, Dominico Cammalleri, Joe Borsellino, Alex Sciascia and Joey Piazza.

Shouldn't be too hard to understand what's going on at this point... if Mod doesn't censure this post !

We don't censor, we apply the rules, rules that are easily accessible to read and explained clearly.
Some just need to be convinced using stronger-than-normal methods than the average member, to the effect rules apply to them also.

So now the guy can't explain why his profits soared 4 times between 2006 and 2009 and fell dramaticaly when the pressure came for an inquiry.

Thanks the our late capt. Crunch, this inquiry didn't start until they didn't have any other alternatives.
After having burned and erased the important trace up to the big buy.

Still, we will learn more stuff as there is a lot more to come from some who won't be affraid of giving straight answers !

They show a guy a video of himself giving money to the Montreal godfather, and he said that he doesn't remember....they were playing cards. Yeah...right....we're all fools.
