What will she do ? or where will she work ? as an Sp maybe?

I realize the story might be bogus and that it is intended to throw people off the trail and that she might go somewhere else to live, but the only place where karla belongs is in prison for getting away with murder ! imo

It is not her fault that she is being released. It is the fault of our pitiful legal system. Until it is brought up to date to reflect the crimes of the society we live in we have no choice but to accept it. She has done her time and the best we can hope for is that she goes on to live a normal and productive life.
I agree that the crimes she was convicted of were disgusting but so are the crimes of many so called "minor offenders" who are released after 2 or 3 years into society and have never been identified to the public. I believe she is much less likely to re-offend than some 14 year old gang banger who is released when he turns 18 after learning much more efficient ways to rob and kill while in detention.

I did not say that the crimes she committed were not her fault. They were. But what do you expect her to do? Ask to remain in prison until the day she dies? I happen to believe in the death penalty in these kinds of cases then there is no more chance of re-offense, or at the very least life without parole.
But the problem lies with our justice system and the sentance she received, which is now ending. She will be free and unfortunately according to our laws not subject to any other penalties unless she breaks the law again. If you don't like it then blame the idiot politicians who run this country and write to your MP and make your voice heard. Maybe we should devote some time to the real problems in this country instead of always bitching about language and seperation.

I like a lot of others wish she had been jailed for the rest of her life. That being said the crown made a deal with her in exchange for her testimony. Let's not forget, without that testimony, perhaps her would not be a dangerous offender confined to prison for the rest of his life today. Who would you rather see on the streets, him or her? As a society, we allow someone who has had an accident as a result of drinking and driving and killing someone to be released, get a new drivers licence, and perhaps kill again, yet we bitch about a girl who did the same society a favour by testifying against her ex, serving her full 12 year sentence because she wants to live a normal life. She has served her time, and yes she needs to be watched. But come on, give her a chance to reenter society and perhaps be a contributing member. Until you have walked a mile in her shoes, don't be so quick to sit in judgement.

Who would you rather have as a neighbor, Homolka or a Hell's Angel that owns the same model and color car as you do? An SUV blew up on my street a month ago so personally I'd take Karla as a neighbor.

Paul Bernardo is irrelevant as he will never see the outside of prison again.

As a matter of interest, Tammy Homolka died in the exact same manner as Jimi Hendrix, asphyxiated by her own vomit.

Having read the link provided by Smack Appeal, if this incident happened where I live in Connecticut there is no question in my mind that Karla would still be in jail. It was a reckless homicide. She should have gotten about 20 years at least with no parole.

Maxhard,

To answer your question I only read about the involvement of Karla Homolka in the death of her sister. I don't know all of the facts of her involvement in the deaths of the other two girls.

As a matter of interest, yesterday the State of Connecticut put to death, by lethal injection, serial rapist/murderer Michael Ross, a Bernardo-like character who was convicted of the rapes and murders of 8 teenage girls in Eastern Connecticut in the early 1980s. It was the first use of the death penalty in New England since 1960, when Connecticut electrocuted convicted murderer Joseph "Mad Dog" Taborsky.

Some posters have indicated that Homolka as a neighbour would be preferable compared to a member of a biker gang. They are entirely different situations and not comparable.

In the case of Homolka, the question is not one of personal danger to neighbours. People generally feel that even though she has served a prison term, because she has never expressed remorse (which requires acknowledging one's crime), she cannot have gone through a tranformation for the good. That is the central issue - we are not talking about a bunch of people with a "hang 'em all" attitude. Most humans have the ability to forgive those who have paid the price for their crimes and show real effort towards living a better life, afterwards.

QUOTE]

Actually, I have been listening to local talk shows on various radio stations and one of the main things they are asking people is about how they feel about their safety if Homolka moves into their area. And people are saying that they would not feel safe for themselves or their children. That is why I made the initial comparison. Another thing is that if she was living next door you would most likely recognize her, you would probably not realize that the biker nest door is in fact a biker. Most Hell's Angels don't look like the stereotypical image of a biker, in fact they look more like a regular working stiff than anything else.
