Who is the idiot announcer on NESN, I'm not referring to the corpse(Remy) but the other idiot, on a routine fly ball by Cano that was hit to left and caught by Bradley in the third inning, a catch that my grandmother could have made, you could have sworn that he was calling the Willie Mays catch, I have been watching the game on mute ever since that play, talk about over dramatize.

Now that's what I call a good old fashioned country ass-kicking.

Some takeaways from opening day in the Bronx:

1. If you want to compete in the AL East, you really need a major league lineup. The Yankees clearly need to pony up another $50-60 million for another hitter or two; they clearly aren't going very far with a lineup full of minor leaguers. This could be one long year in the Bronx.

2. Jackie Bradley is a stud. His walk in the second, coming back from 0-2 and laying off a bunch of close sliders, was very impressive, as was the catch he made on Cano, the opening day play of the year. Bradley saw 25 pitches today.

3. The Yankees need to fatten up their bullpen. The Sox' four 1-hit innings from their bullpen, while impressive, would have been more so had they been facing a major league lineup.

You're a funny guy, Joe. I was watching ESPN and they were just raving about that ball, hit directly over his head, that Bradley pulled off the left field wall. I guess you haven't been watching baseball very long, eh?

I see rumples fav time of the year is extended by one more day lol....... man if that wasnt the most boring game ever, and they should start the season in May. The baseball season is too long and it should be May1-Oct1 and play 135 games.

Oh well it is what it is.... anyways congrats to red sox, first place for a day, but dont get too comfy. CC was his usual opening day mess so all is right with him, lol...he is still an ace but never pitches well opening day. Phil Hughes threw 7 good innings down south today and will make his next start in triple A saturday and could be back after that start.

Cant wait to see the Jays open tomorrow night!

PS. Joe, that was a routine fly ball that JBjr. made look tougher than it was. Another showboat if he has any success.

Well in all fairness, it seems you LOVE excuses, you afterall are the master of them, well that is when you stick around once your team goes into "suckie mode" oh wait a minute, thats right, you disappear quicker than the roadrunner when that pesky coyote is near

PS. What is the excuse? CC does not pitch well on opening days, FACT Jack, :)

Yup, but when his pitiful offense can't put up more than 2 runs and his bullpensucks, how well he pitches doesn't really matter, does it?

Iggy, historically speaking April is always CC's worst month, he always starts off slow.
Actually, it's his second worst month, Joe. His worst month is October.

I can't get too excited about one game, especially since the Yankees started 1-4 in 1998 and then went 119-46 the rest of the way including the playoffs.

I will say that Bryce Harper looks like he is learning to hit the curveball. I remember the Yankees sweeping the Nationals last year and they fed Harper a steady diet of curveballs and he did not fare well, and was humiliated by Andy Pettite striking him out 3 times on sweeping curveballs. Harper I think is poised for a huge power season, maybe 40 homers this year.

Hey Rumps,

No need to look at the score to see who won when pinstripers fans make bad excuses flow like a torrent to make themselves feel better.

Merlot

No need to see who won when all 4 Merb Red Sox fans appear in the Baseball thread. If the Yankees would have won, all 4 would have been MIA, as usual.

You're worst month, rumps, has been September for the past few years. Remember the last time your team made it to October?

I do and oh those septembers were both something to remember, for the ages as they say. Yes folks, today is the red sox world series they were supposed to have won 2yrs ago when they were the best team "evah" who horribly sucked and blew a tire on the final lap of the race, ahhhhhhhh good days... I love spring but those septembers ruled!

I remember the Sox succeeding in October, twice in this century, something the $2,000,000,000 Yankees have managed only once.

You and your Century quote, like a broken record. But you're a hopeless liberal. Liberals do nothing repeat the same damn lines over and over and over.

By the way, rumps, my grammar is good but I don't know about your grammar. Or should I say as you would say: "Me thinks my grammar's good but me don't knows about you, rumps."

Hey dude. This is a baseball thread. Please don't start the political crap.

BTW: We know you don't like the Sox and you aren't a Yankees fan. You don't even care about baseball. So why are you here? Yeah ;) we know.

Hey Merlot, you want to start with me? I will go over your accusations, you weasel.

And where did I say anything political, other than to jokingly make an analogy?

We know you don't like the Sox

quadruple true.

Red Sox SUCK like their fans.

you aren't a Yankees fan

false.

I lived in New York and paid New York taxes for many years. So when I was there, I picked between the Yankees and Mets. I always liked the Yankees because of their history. Yanks aren't my first favorite team. I won't tell you who is. My favorite team is Not the Red Sox, because those Sox SUCK like their fans.

You don't even care about baseball

triple false.

My father was employed by a baseball team for several years. He had friends who were Major League baseball players, one of them dating back to high school who he played baseball with. I saw more baseball games as a kid than you probably have as an adult. I saw 2 World Series Games when I was a kid. So where do you come off telling me that I don't even care about baseball?

I will comment in this thread, just like they let you.

By the way, rumps, my grammar is good...'
"If the Yankees would have won..." is at best awkward, at worst downright incorrect. In English, we say, "If the Yankees had won..."
"You're worst month..." is wrong. In English, we say, "Your worst month."

No need to see who won when all 4 Merb Red Sox fans appear in the Baseball thread..l.
Quite ironic, seeing this from someone who has been in the Witness Protection Program since election day. Say, how was Sweden?

Of course the original Boston team now plays in Atlanta.
Yup, and the original New York team now plays in San Francisco, while the original Baltimore team now plays in New York.
