hey guys, my cell phone contract just expired and i'm looking around to get a new plan. can you guys let me know how your cellphone plans are and the reliability of your network.
how satisified are you with customer support and stuff.
i'm trying not to jump onboard a company that'll give me a hard time.

I've been with TELUS for about 10 years now and have rarely had any problems.

They used to have a lot of texting issues but since they moved away from the CDMA network and updated their SMS servers, it has been pretty smooth. The voice network is very stable and their tech support is by far the best I have ever dealt with. Their rate plans aren't the cheapest per month but it's usually the spin-off companies that beat the monthly rates. The problem with those is you can't get the newest smartphones at a good reduction. Just some info about the other companies I have had to deal with.
BELL. Piss poor customer service. I dropped their Internet and residential phone services years ago. On one occasion they reset thousands of ADSL user account passwords but never thought to advise customers. Had to visit 7 customer sites at night to call tech support and input the new passwords before business hours. It was a "fun" night.

Videotron. Constant billing issues. I've called tech support and they sent a technician. He determined my RENTED modem was the problem and replaced it. I had a $60 charge the following month because he tested my TV jacks at home. Since those weren't the problem, why pay for the tests if they are a troubleshooting step and needs to be done to determine the issue? They credited me but only after 3 calls.

Telus is from Bell from what i know... but so is Koodo, what i use, yet the customer service seem to be way different.

I was with Bell for phone(house) and tv a couple years back, i got screwed like crazy, it was so much trouble, and i had TV for merely 1 year and a half and i had troubles many times. Took the cable guy 3 tries once to figure out a probleme.... Even when i finally got away from the damn tv deal(that was never mentioned to me that it was a 2 year contract) they tried to hook me again with the phone. I mean once the tv was out, the phone was pretty static, same ammout every month, no problems, but they tried at some points to hook me on a damn contract again. They said "oh but you will pay 5$ less each month" , i said no way your gonna get me in some damn contract again, if i want to cancel, ill cancel and thats it, without those damn fees. I was about to leave the appartement in a few months too, and i was going back to a place where a phone was already up, but even if it wouldn't had been the case, no way i would had take a contract again.

Thats why i took Koodo for my cell, no contract, you only pay the phone if your leave before its fully paid by your monthly bill. No "longue distance" in canada, so i can call to montreal just as i would call to my local town and they got nice package for times and texts. Currently i don't even pay 25$ a month, with unlimited text. I just got 50min but i rarely use them all anyway... i could get 100 for 5 bucks more..

Koodo belongs to TELUS. But TELUS and BELL are completely different companies.

Rogers, Bell, and TELUS are the 3 big players in Canada. The rest are either spin-offs of the big 3 or little companies who hop on to the big 3 networks.
