Parking a motorcycle in Montreal

My fellow Harley riders and I are planning a ride up to Montreal this summer and will need a safe place to park our bikes. Indoor parking would be the preference, and it would need to be in the downtown area. I usually park my car at Auto Parc Stanley on Peel, but I'm not so sure I would want or can park a motorcycle there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Merci.

I usually just park at whatever hotel I am staying. If there is valet parking, you usually have to park the bike yourself and you lose in/out privileges. But more often than not I just park on the street in plain view from the front entrance, and I bring everything in from the paniers. I would just call whatever place you will be staying at and ask them. If you end up indoors somewhere, park them close to the attendant's booth.

Thanks Conan, would anyone be able to tell me which hotels are "motorcycle friendly"? I'm looking to have my parking situation all squared away before I head up. Parking in the street is not an option because I'll be with a group and I would prefer to have something in place before I arrive.

Thanks.

I've stayed at the Hilton downtown and the Delta centre-ville and parked in the garage for each- no issues. Just made sure I parked near the entry way or someplace that was high traffic and in view of cameras. No one bothered it either time. Like Conan, I take everything I can w me to the room, and lock hard bags and tourpak. Good luck, safe ride waloo

If I recall correctly, the Holiday Inn on 420 Sherbrooke always used to park all the Ferrari's in the front of the hotel for F1 weekend

That might be the ticket

I'll be in town June 30-July 4

Maybe our trips will cross....

If not, say hi to Ashley for me

Best Regards

Harley-Davidson bikes still have the mythical image, in the population in general, of being associated with criminal biker gangs.
I don't think a hotel will be too thrilled to have a line-up of Harley's in the peak of tourist season !

My "gang" consists of an attorney, banker, and two accountants. I don't think the hotels will feel too threatened by us. Unless of course, we take them to court or audit their books!

I think Delta Centre-Ville is a good choice. The highway that brings you downtown basically turns into University, so it's very easy to get in/out. The place is close to both Old Montreal and best parts of St Catherine, and is reasonably priced. Indoor parking garage, a little tricky to find because have to go around the block and get to it from the back of an office complex.

So you are a group of established professionals turned "bad ass bikers" on weekends? This has "Wild Hogs" written all over it :) Sorry, couldn't resist...

pokerpro, most hotels deal with riding groups frequently and understand that that image is pure Hollywood. They also realize that anyone with a nice Harley is doing well as they are stupidly expensive!! LOL When we come in with 12 bikes, they know we are going to spend $$$

thegreatwalooo, if u r able to book in advance, any of the better Montreal hotels will bend over backwards to accommodate ur parking and safety concerns. Anyhow, the main reason I responded to this is to warn u as a tourist to stay out of Old Montreal on ur bikes as motorcycles r banned there and LE loves nailing tourists. Happy riding!

I live in Montreal and have had bikes for more than 35 years now. I had a garage only for the last 9 years. Only once my bike was damaged on the street. A neighbour, in a hurry to go to emergency in hospital, backed up too much with his car and hit my bike which fell. He left a paper with his name. I don't say you should not park in a garage. I believe you should if you stay downtown. Still I believe, from my own experience, that most parts of Montreal are safe for bikes. Personnally, I had more problems with my cars: hit and runs, purposely made scratches, theft, etc...

Apprenti - we are staying downtown so we would only need reccomendations for indoor parking. None of us are going to park our Hogs on the street.
